Social media signals and their roles in Google rankings

Hello,

I keep on hearing that social media signals have a role in the way Google ranks pages and sites, but for now, I haven't seen any hard evidence of that.

Like any other company, we have pages on facebook, linkedin, google plus and twitter, to which we post daily. No, there are no clients coming in from social media, so I was wondering if it's worth investing time in adding every day updates, unless those count in ranking on Google.

What do you think, is there a link between social media and Google rankings, and how much does this weight in ranking my sites?
Thank you

Social media sites are for branding & it helps to make a space on the hearts of people by showing them what your business deals with & what the quality of your products. Social signals are important to locate on a website as it is in the rules of Google algorithm. It will help to redirect your customers from your website to your social profile without search on the browser. This is the big reason why social icons are linked with the websites.

The post above is evidence why you can no longer learn SEO on a forum.

Social signals have no direct bearing on rankings.

OP you are getting nothing from your Facebook work because no one cares about a company on a social network.

Using Facebook to directly promote a company is the wrong way to use Facebook. Make your company page about your local community, a cause, entertainment or a charity.

No there is not any link between social media and Google rankings because all the links you are adding in social media accounts are NOFOLLOW. So, that can not pass any link-juice for your backlinks.

How many fans you have on those social channels? If you need ranking via social media, especially on Facebook, I think you should run advertising on that channels, with CPC or Engagement ads type. This may help drive traffic from your fanpage to website and then improve some social signal such as traffic source, audience, bounce rate,...I think so.

Google says it doesn't use social media for ranking. Gary Illyes reiterated this on Twitter last June 7, 2016 https://twitter.com/methode/status/740017738446344192.

Its right that social media has no direct impact over rankings But they do help in great boost to your website.

I rely on Social media on Initial stage as google likes to rank things which an active topic around the users and that is done by Social media after you receives lots of Shares. But again they alone cant help you in ranking.
