Blog commenting as a link building strategy is a very poor plan.

      That depends...

Followed blog comment links still hold weight, easy to prove.

The real question is are they relevant links or links on random webpages. The difference is a relevant blog comment link will hold up in a manual review (long term) while a random link would be obvious spam (short term).

Also consider the backlink page, does it have 10 relevant links or 1,000 Michael Kors handbag links.

Either way followed blog comment links still rank pages.

They are very low quality links that easily degrade in strength over time.

About the only worse links you could get would be footer links or profile links.

They degrade because any page that is allowing you to get automated comments through is going to get spammed to hell. It won't just be your link there. There will be hundreds that follow you, making every link on the page weaker and weaker.

I sometimes don't elaborate as well as I should due to the extreme time crunch I'm under running more than 55 eCommerce sites and our training program. I apologize for that.

As Yukon pointed out, not ALL comment links are bad ones and there are some that have a little bit of SEO value. They need to be on relevant websites and on relevant articles on those sites. That said, they should only make up a small percentage of your overall link profile.

Because they are easy to get and can be placed by yourself, they do not tend to hold the same weight as editorially placed links on relevant sites/pages that you have no control over. Still, they are better than no links at all. Just do not make them or any other easy to get link that you can place yourself your entire backlink strategy.

      Please elaborate.

I think that doing this can be effective, if used properly. Much like guest posting, this can be considered as a gray hat technique. But this can be done properly as long as the content you are posting is relevant, not just spam messages that are completely unrelated to the blog post.

Btw the number one tool used for backing up web 2.0 is GSA (though more than one tier) . Not condoning its use but to answer your question. I haven't started it in years but have a perpetual license I never used much even back when I bought it either.

There's a HUGE difference between footer links and profile links.

Odds are a profile link is going to be nofollow and zero supporting links (no authority in a million years) while a footer link is most likely going to be followed and on the strongest pages across a domain.

Sure there's a footprint for footer links (pun intended) but I'd take some footer links on decent domains any day.

Footer links rank pages regardless of what Google claims or hints.

You must know how to comment before hire people to do it. The good comment backlinks will come from authority, relevant website, less OBL (Outbound Links).
    1. Search Google and find authority blog which allow comment.
    2. Get the urls of the commenters
    3. Check their backlink profile by free web tool: Back Link Watch (please Google). If you have budget you can use Ahrefs or Majestic
    4. Follow their backlinks profile, you can get some blog which allow comment, then read latest post and write comment with your name and backlinks. You may create Gravatar ( your Gravatar image will show on the comment)
    5. Make a list of website allow comment and hire people on Upworks do this hard job
    Good luck.

If you want to do blog commenting as part of your link building technique then look for an online blog community that is relevant to your site niche. It is best that way so you'll get quality backlinks and genuine traffic.

I can offer you try BuzzBundle as you can create many social profiles, monitor brand mentions and publish content- all in one place.

If you've spotted hot link building opportunities you can react straight away by posting a comment with a link pointing to your website.
Most of the blogs and forums automatically add a nofollow attribute to any link you post.
This will not boost your rankings but may help you to bring traffic to your website and reach target
    audience.
    Good luck!
