How to use SEO with User Generated Content

Unlike most of the sites here, the content on my site is 99% user generated. Which means I can't use anchor links as well as other SEO strategies.

How do I get a classified site up and running. I see alot of potential, but the problem is telling everyone about it.

Can someone give me some help?

Thanks.

From an SEO persective, they need to include the keywords in the subject of the post they make.

Depending on your software, this text "should" become not only the page's title tag, it should also be used as the anchor text that links to that page. These are the two most powerful on the page SEO elements you can do...But you are at the mercy of your posters.

Some how, you need to get them to include what they are selling in the subject. Make it a rule for posting.

I suggest to just focus on this...Where USG is great is that you should be getting tons of it, and some of it will "accidently" optimize itself.

After you make sure you've done all you can to get users to include what they are selling in the subject form, you need to go out and get tons of links to your site, to give it authority.

Even though you have user-generated content, you can still do on-page and off-page SEO.

In terms of off-page SEO, i.e., getting links, unless you are going to go through every classified ad post, and try to SEO on a specific page, you can just get links the same way any other site would but directly to your home page. Even if the text on default page is dynamic, that shouldn't affect your SEO.

In terms of on-page SEO, I would recommend formatting your URL's so they appear static, and don't use query strings.

You could also do proper on-site linking by making sure your keywords have links in the menu, footer, etc. For example, create a link in the header called "Classified Ads", instead of "home".

Anyway, maybe give us more detail as to why you think having user-generated content limits your SEO.
