Hello, The home page of my wordpress blog is ranking very well for a few of my keywords but the problem is that the actual post pages are not. The home page is taking all the glory from my actual post pages.

I think this may be due to the post being shown on both the home page and the actual post page, Google is looking at the home page as the authority of the two and giving it the love.

This bothers my conversions due to the fact that people are looking for information on dog training but being directed to a general dog information page. Yes, the home page does have the dog training post on it but visitors would need to scroll in order to get to that post.

I'm having this problem with a few of my keywords.

Does anyone understand my problem?
If so can you explain what I have done wrong as far as getting the actual post page to rank opposed to the home page.

You could just have an excerpt of your blog posts on the home page and have all other pages of your blog pointing to the pages you want to have a good rank for, such as using a recent posts plugin.

Make sure your links have good keyword loaded anchor text too.

I wonder if this is the norm... I recently visited a few high page rank blogs and found the same thing, i.e. home page had high pr's but when you click on a post the page rank was non existent.
