Google not indexing pictures on my site

I have a couple wordpress sites and a regular HTML site that show up on Google but none of the pictures on those site come up when I do an image search. I do a google search of my site using the captions or the file name as the search terms and get nothing. Is there some special thing I have to do or not do to get my pictures to be indexed?

    Some questions:

    1. Do you see the pics on the site if you just type in your address in your browser? If not, you may not have uploaded the pics to your server.

    2. Did you add alt tags to your images? This is a good way for the search engines to know that they are pictures and index them.

    Other than that, once your site is indexed, the pictures should be showing because the search engines normally crawl the entire webpage.

      1. Yes. I do see the pics on my site when I type in the address. I definitely uploaded them.
      2. I do alt tags on my HTML site and fill in all the blanks when I use Wordpress which I assume accomplishes the same thing.

      Some of the pictures from my HTML sites used to be indexed but they aren't anymore. Some of them were even ranked pretty highly. The pics from my wordpress sites have never been indexed. The text of my sites is indexed so I haven't been slapped. I also know Google crawls through on a regular basis.

    google only indexes small number of sites for pictures and other type of "heavy" media... only high PR or rare pictures are indexed into their database.. nothing to worry about..

    unlike picture.. google indexes most of the text information of most sites.

    you can do a simple experiment.. write something very unique around your picture.. and wait a few days and search for that unique phrase... unique phrase is pretty to rank...
