    Hi Mack,

I assume you are talking about increasing a videos transparency within Google as opposed to YouTube itself. If so then then consider the following.

Since Google launched its 'universal search' system, video has been elevated in importance. That is why it is now possible to get sensational page 1 ranking on Google for a video within as little as a a few hours.

    In order to maximize the chance of this occuring do the following;

    1. Keyword Research.
This is the first and most important step you must under take. Use Google's keyword tool and create a list of keywords pertinent to your niche.

    2. Combine these keywords into your title. The title must read well for a human reader, but you should try and embed your primary keywords here. Bear in mind keywords closer to the start of your title will have more weight from a Google perspective.

    3. Place a link to your site at the beginning of your description, followed by a description that embeds your major keywords.

    4. Insert your major keywords into the tags field

    5. You now need to accelerate that video's youtube views in order to increase its chances of appearing on the search engines. Since Google acquired YouTube their appears to be a direct correlation with a videos views and its positioning within the SERPs. You can do this by leveraging the community features on Youtube including; posting video replies to related videos, messaging friends and even using external marketing such as blog posts, forum posts pointing to your video. You should setup your YouTube account such that it sends an auto tweet to your twitter followers.

There is actually an awful lot that you can do to accelerate your video view and back links to that video, all of which will combine to give you top ranking.

    I hope this helps.

    To your success,
    Mao

Does the video content need to relate to your nich content? Or is the link in the description what counts as a backlink?

Good trick I have used in the past is to use the exact same tags from other top videos in your niche, so you rank in top in the most related videos.

For example check this video out on tinnitus which has over 100,000 views:

Notice how the number 1 most related video has used the exact same tags. Thats no coincidence. That video maker is an IMer leading traffic to a review site with his affiliate links.

This is the number 1 related video I was talking about

    Hi Daniel,

What I mean by elevated in importance is this. Video is the fastest growing form of content delivery online, so much so that YouTube is now classified as the world's second largest search engine because it has more daily searches than bing or yahoo. Since Google introduced 'universal search' video results are not automatically blended into search results. Searchers no longer need to select the 'video' / 'youtube' vertical search filter. Very often depending on how well a video is optimized, it can take the number 1 position sitting at the very top of search results on the serps.

I agree with Muz, that is a good strategy for better video views. Another strategic tagging method is to upload several videos all with the same tags. This ensure you dominate the 'related videos' section.

With google owning youtube, there is a lot of bias and getting videos to rank high is easier than most other sources. Great bias for video marketers.

As other people has said, put key words in the video title, tags, video information etc.

Also promote/market your video at blogs/forums/web2 sites etc to get more traffic, views and comments. All of which help in rankings.
