Starred results in google

I am aware that google recently implemented the starred results in the search engine so that reader can personalize their search results by starring websites that they find useful for them. What I find weird though is that one of my websites keep popping on the first page as a starred result if I enter a search term to test how that website ranks for it....I dont use to rank on the first page before with those keywords...though I have first page rankings but for other keywords...
I do see a great increase in my adsense earnings....So I am not sure whether this starred results referring to my website is only visible to my search since obviously I keep coming to that website since its mine and google must have starred it for me for it to end up in first page.
Whats your experience on this? Is this just a personalize result for me?
