How much traffic do i need to make $50 a day

ok i have a health related website that gets about 175 (250 pageviews)visitors a day.....fairly targeted traffic.

the site has been mothballed for about a year and a half, but traffic has remained the same.

I did run a bit of adsense 2 years ago to pay hosting and seem to get about 30 cents a click.

I am not sure if ad rates are down or not.....what would be realistic? also is there a better health related affiliate I could use for more money?

I know it depends on CTR (not sure if CTR's are down over last few years either) and stuff but just estimate about what you guys think?

If I put the max adsense on ect......

I was thinking with 700 UV's I might be able to earn about $50? possible or not??

I really feel this is on the edge of being a big site (well not nig for some of you LOL) just can't seem to get over the hump, but I have not worked on it at all and traffic is going up 5,600 UV last month...

Can't speak to using Adsense any more because its been years since I built for it. But my typical rule of thumb is 1k humans = $100, minimum. That should be your initial target / day. Results will fluctuate but you can work on your monetization tactics until your conversions surpass this benchmark.

With adsense you want a horrible site - theory is that people will click anything to get out

If your site is decent I'd use it to build a list, offer an incentive, free giveaway to signup, then sell to the list. A good site gives the list authority and if you give something of value in your list mailings, people will be far more prepared to buy from you. You can also sell other peoples ads to your list... Just ensure you keep the quality and value high.

To reach $50 a day you just need to get roughly 167 clicks on your ads. Increase your daily visitors to 700 and you should be making at least $30 a day. I think you would need the full 1000 visitors to reach the $50 goal.

Additionally, play with your adsense placement and see what happens. Test, then report, then test again. Do this for a month, two months if you can stand it, and then aggregate the data and see how your results turned out.

How about your try promoting affiliate products on clickbank etc?

The average clickbank product pays out roughly $30.

So if you are getting roughly 200 UV's a day, and you only manage to obtain a %1 conversion rate - which is very likely (i.e. one percent of your visitors ends up buying the affiliate product)

You can easily make $50-$60 a day.

Alternatively sell your website. People would be glad to pay for a website that gets over 5000 uniques per month.

Don't quote me on this, but with that many uniques I believe you could sell this site for $5000-$10,000. Of course it depends on the look and content, but it could be a good alternative to look at.

MMmmm, dunno... I'm running about 15k impressions a day and I'm well below the $100 mark on adsense...

Depends really. You could be pushing a product with a $50 commission to traffic of only 10 people a day. If you have a 10 percent conversion rate that would give you $50 a day.

Do you promote an affilite product on you r site as well? if not you should deff concider it as you are much more likely to hit your goal of $50 a day with this conbines with adsense. I find adsense so hard to make a healthy amount of income with and like you said, it totally relies on CTR. Which in my experience it rather low. But obviously the more traffic you can get the more clicks. So if you don't fancy promoting a affiliate product as well, focus on building lots of back links!

Sell affiliate stuff from your site (e.g. books like mine in the health niche). Health problem page -> eBook to solve health problem converts very well.

Also sell your own products.

With 600,000+ page views a year I don't make a lot on Adsense, although most of my pages are IT related informational howto's, and the clickthrough rates on those are rubbish.

Adsense depends on the site, the conversion rate, and the per click payment. I have one site that averages between $0.02 and $0.03 per visitor so 1000 visitors = $30. I have another that averages between $0.08 and $0.10 per visitor so 1000 visitors = $100.

Of course, traffic and conversions change constantly so at any given point during the season, the lower paying one could be paying more and the higher paying site could be paying less. Some days I've seen more than $0.10 per visitor, but then clicks usually drop off after that until things balance back down again.

it depends on you CTR, Do you have a low click through rate, ask me anything about adsense ill be more than happy to help you, im making about 300 a day with adsense so trust me i know my stuff when it comes to adsense.
