Quick Wordpress Indexing In Google: Blog Post vs Static Page

Sometimes when I am setting up a site I want to have a static page rather than a post. What I have noticed is sites I start off with an initial blog post get indexed much quicker than those that I use a static page on.
In trying to figure this out I am thinking that maybe the Wordpress ping list does not apply to a page like it does to a post.
Am I on the right track here? And if I started a site on April 2nd with a static page that has not been indexed in Google yet, will I screw things up if I delete the static page & resubmit it as a post?
