How To Easily Get An Indented Listing On Page 1

Here is a simple method of getting an indented listing on the first page of the search engines that will take very little time to implement and about a week to achieve. In saying 1 week, that is how long my three test cases have taken to do this so I don't see why it will not happen to you.

Firstly, for those that are not aware of what an indented listing is, it is a listing where 2 or more of your web pages are shown in the search results because the search engines have deemed both pages to be relevant to what the search term was.

Here is a link to one of my examples to explain what I'm talking about and to also verify what I'm saying.

I am not aware of the figures, but I know that I have often clicked on an indented listing when searching as it stands out more than a single listing. (If anyone has some stats on this please feel free to post)

So how did I get these indented listings?

Well, I use my AWStats as a keyword research tool probably more than any other tool. Partly because all the search terms that it shows me are obviously related to my subject matter. I go over these stats twice a week to see if any pearlers have been unearthed.

You know when you look at the stats and it will list the top 10 of **whatever**, well most of the terms will probably only be used 4,6 or maybe 8 times to find your site. This does not mean they are not searched for often. It could mean that you are on Page 2 or even Page 3 of the results hence the low count.

One such term I researched was "how does rowing work abs" without quotes of course. Last week my awstats said 5 people visited using that term for the month. I then went to Google and typed in the term and found my listing at #19 so this is what I did.

1. My page at #19 was Rowing Machine and Perfect Abs | Perfect Six Pack Abs Nowhere on the page were the words "how does rowing work abs" structured exactly like that. It was obviously a long tail keyword that google determined was a good fit for the page though.

2. I wrote a new blog post and SEO'd it for the term "how does rowing work abs"

3. I then went and edited the first page and included the search term exactly in the post and then linked that search term to the new post.

I know googlebot is sniffing around the first post so it was only a matter of time before he came back to the page, saw the link to the new post and indexed that but the beauty of it all is that by doing all this, it has not only indented the listing but thrown it up to #3, up from #19 where it was a week ago.

The new post is mentioned first on the listing with the original underneath it. Since last week I have had 18 visitors to the new page for that term alone but it doesn't stop there.

Checking my stats this morning I found I had 7 visitors to the new page for the search term "rowing for abs"

I am going to make a post about that exact term, go back and edit the original to include that exact phrase and link that phrase to the new page.

To make the process a heap simpler, this is what I did.
Go to search settings at the top right hand side of google and change the preferences to show 100 reuslts instead of 10.

Then go and visit the page of your site that you are going to be targeting. By visiting this page it will make your listing in the search results appear purple because it has been visited. Now when you do the search and scan down the 100 results your page will stand out like dogs **lls and you will quickly know which page is indexed for which term. Just saves you time clicking page after page after page.

What does this all acheive?

1. You will boost a page 2 or page 3 listing up the results quickly.
2. It will get your new pages indexed in no time as the bot already has visited the original page.
3. You will be adding new, fresh and relevant content to your site which Big G loves
4. You will attract more visitors for a bigger variety of keywords.

It really is a win/win/win for you. Moral of the story is --- Get up close and personal with your AWStats today.
