I keep on going back and forth on how I should divide our budget. I was wondering for the small businesses out there, how much do you set a side for monthly SEO budget? Do you divide that budget between SEO and PPC?

divide it equally at first - trial and error - see what gets the best clicks and watch your CTR - and then reduce your bids by pennies each day

Yes I agree that it should be equal 'cause thinking long term if you get those top ratings the SEO will become considerably cheaper. Which will make you more money.

The best way to determine your budget is to determine your goal and what is most important not only in the long-term but also in the short-term. We all know you can start ranking in the first page of a SERP using PPC and if you need instant traffic and sales, there you go, SEO is a long-term budgeting strategy. May have a much better ROI in the long run.

  • use "decimal - system ", it is good wheen you promote some products. For example: If a product you are promoting gives you a commission of $20.00 per sale, just move the decimal two places to the left and you will get $00.20. This is your max CPC.Using this method, you will break even if you sell one product out of 100 clicks.
A good selling product should be able to sell 1 out of 100 clicks or better. If you can do better than 1 out of 100 you will be making money!

well the seo and PPC are entirely different so you need to decide a different budget for both of them.....As you would be using PPC thus SEO is not a difficult then onwards but it depends to whom you are outsourcing the work......
