Powerful profile backlinks technique

This may be old news to everyone else, but I just discovered it today.
I was out creating some profile backlinks and pinging them, and by chance, hit a forum where I already had an account. I wondered if my old profile page had PR, so I logged in and looked - and then it hit me. On this forum - a Simple Machines forum - your website is under your name, listed as a little globe icon. I looked up some of my old posts, and sure enough, those links are all dofollow, and update retroactively!
I changed my site title and name to what I'm pushing these days, and then went back and searched for every thread I'd started, and pinged them all. Some of them were PR3 or PR4!
We'll see what impact it has on my rankings, but I thought I would share this useful way to re-use efforts spent posting on forums, even if it was before you started doing IM.
