1 Blog Comment - 27 Backlinks ???

Hi, I recently left 1 comment on a blog yet from this I received 27 backlinks.
How is this possible?

ps my this doubled my backlinks on a fairly new site and instead of being on page 4 is now on page 44, I presume at some point it will come back to nearer page 1?

Some blogs display on their sidebar "featured commentors", "latest comments" and similar things getting the data from the comment box. So, your link is reproduced on the sidebar and any page inside the blog where the side bar is.

Are all the links from the same site?

If so, then it is as mentioned above from the various pages of the site and locations of the comments.

If a different site, it could be the site is being syndicated via RSS feeds and other ways to spread that content to other sites (including the comments from the site).

Either way whether the comments have been syndicated via RSS or they have a recent comments plugin on every page of their blog, these links will be very short lived.

Don't be surprised if you check in a week or two and the backlinks are no longer there.

As others have said, its most likely because of the "recent comment" or "most commented" or something like that. When you get on those, it means your link shows on every page of that blog.

basically it depends on your blog, if you allowed widget on sidebar . recent comment then you can get much backlink.

Try to build backlinks from different IP rather than same IP. Which will help to rank better in the search engine.

I got 900 backlinks from a comment once too. Syndication, blogroll...they will last for a bit, but will slowly fade away over the next few months.
