Hey guys, is it OK to maintain a site by just backlinking or just writing posts, or do you have to do both. The key word that I'm aiming for has pretty low competition and not sure what to do. So I have my main keyword page as the home page and 4 other related key words as different pages on the site. Each of these 5 pages have 5 related posts linked to them and I'm just now starting my backlinking.

After I'm done my backlinking what do you guys think I should do? I like backlinking more so can I just keep getting backlinks for all 5 of my pages after my pages rank well (page 1), or will add new posts linking to all 5 pages also be necessary?

Thanks!

I think it is important to continue the backlinking process. However adding new content is important too, because Google loves new content!

I do have sites that haven't changed in years that still have great rankings, but ultimately I suggest that you do both.

  • Depends on the competition in the niche and how relevant your content is.

I have a site I made more than 10 years ago, I've done next to nothing to it in the past few years and it still ranks on the first page for some very relevant keyword phrases.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. But if you are getting no results then you need to figure out why. More content may not be the answer or it might be. More links in and of themselves seldom do anything.

The trick is you MUST get your content in front of a receptive audience.

So don't just think link building, think where are the people that can use my website hanging out and how can I get in front of them there?

Branding and reputation are important. As people get to know you they will recommend you. And they don't have to know you personally... they have to know your BRAND... that's the most powerful thing you can do online is build a recognized brand. And it ain't easy.
