Say I want to focus on a niche like "dog training" and my domain is dogtraining.com.

Im using wordpress so I write up an article/post about "dog training" and sticky it to the front page. I also put up backlinks with anchors "dog training" pointing to my root domain.

For other articles/posts I write, should they be focused on the same keyword "dog training", with anchor backlinks "dog training" pointing to the new articles/posts also?

Or should I write the other articles based on long tail keywords like, "dog training strategies" or "new age dog training" with ltk anchor text backlinks?

Should I limit post/article creation to once a week or would it better to create as many as possible? Also, is there some kind of ratio for backlinks to individual posts/root domain I should follow?

Thanks,
-Zee

You can use both. It is advisable to use long tail keywords along with the main keywords. I mean you can use both I think.

NO, there is no limit. But make it in a flow. Not so much or not so less.

Nope. There is no ratio. Try to get as much backlinks as you can. But do lots of backlinks for the root domain and give your main attention to root domain first. Let it be got the rank. Then try for the individuals.

All these are my opinions. Let the others says what they think.

Make sure that there's some variation in the anchor text of the links pointing to your domain. In my experience it's better to 'chunk up' as a content strategy, this means that the content on your site won't be so restricted. In practice this means that your posts/articles/pages will be about the subject of dogs (or whatever), with a focus on dog training ( or whatever the niche is).

Use the Google wonder wheel to come up with some categories for your site. Look at the top 10 results in Google to see what categories they use. So, as an example with dog training you'd have:

Dog Training (category) > Dog Training Strategies (sub category) > Dog Training Equipment Reviews (another sub category)

Then you could have a category of Dog Breeds with a sub category of dog breed characteristics. These are all examples that I made up, you have to do the research based on the niche.

Build links some to the category pages. I prefer using all pages rather than posts and using a page as a category page with links to all pages in that category. It takes more work, but it removes some of the mess that wordpress has in terms of duplicate content.

For other articles/posts I write, should they be focused on the same keyword "dog training"
No, they just need to be targeting other keyword phrases that you want to rank for as long as they're within the general theme of the niche or the market that you 'chunked up' to.

I think quasha is fully right. I also think it is good to use variations of keywords.
