Trademarked Domain Names

Happened to come across a domain name with over 40K exact searches per month. Unfortunately, it contains a trademark term. So, would like to know what is your opinion on such domains. Would you buy it? Would you buy and then sell it? What would you do?

As long as the domain isn't for a branded keyword (one where the top ten is full of the same domain, search facebook in google to see what I'm talking about), they're usually pretty easy to rank.

You could get slapped by the advertiser or company if you outrank them though, and there's not much you can do about it. I've had domains promoting affiliate offers taken away because they were trademarked domains.

Some companies protect their trademarks - others don't bother. But how can you know which does which? Hard question.

One thing you can do though is check to see if there are other domains using the trademarked term. If you see more than one, chances are that the company won't take any legal action.

I may be totally wrong here - just my current thinking.

I'd leave it alone and not register it. You can't make any money of a trademarked name, who's going to buy it, the company?. I don't think so when they outright own it and send you a c/d letter.
