the price for manual would be for around 50-150 profiles

that same price would be for 5000 profile xrumer blasts. depends on the quality you are getting

I would pay more for backlinks that were manual and relevant. I would not pay more for manual backlinks that were just blog spam or profile links.

Thanks for the 1 liner post, but by profile, I mean't forum profile.

Not all forum profiles are the same, even automated ones.

Does the profile have nothing but three links in it so it looks like obvious spam?

Was it done all in one pass so that it gets deleted that first week because it is obvious spam?

        OR

Was the profile created complete with pict, personal info and a nice bio with no links.

Double passed a week or two later and added the link in the middle of the bio so that it looks natural and is inside related content. Giving you both a better quality link since it is inside some content and a much better stick rate so it will last and not get deleted.

Either of these can be done by either manual work or by automation so no I would not pay more for manual. If I was buying though I would pay more for quality.

I would pay for quality manual backlink services. I can't stand cleaning up my sites from stupid posts that get deleted immediately and am sure that any service that does the same both (a) decreases my rep, and (b) results in a total waste of money for these backlinks. Problem is that I rarely every find anyone with any type of quality.

Automated forum posts typically will duplicate content, judging that your link will be amongst duplicate content, which google hates, it will damage the page that your link is coming from, recognising that you are cheating, damaging your site.
This is my personal oppinion. For more tips or backlinking services, pm me your email address or questions

Forum profiles are junk links to begin with . If i am going to go that route then why pay for manual junk? I bet what a lot of "manual" builders do is use software to signup place links and then modify some text and keywords.

      so 90% automated anyway

      Have you actually tested this?

While profile links are not as effective as they used to be they still can help, especially in those low to moderate niches. You do however have to go about things differently than before.

I have however never had a site "damaged" by my link building and I build quite a few links a day.

This is just silly. For some reason, the word 'automation' has evil connotations with some people. An automated profile link is the exact same thing as a manual profile link. The better question would be whether it's worth it to invest in profile links at all.

Why in the world would I pay more for something that isn't giving me any more value?

Just because something is automated doesn't mean it's bad.
