How harmful is it to have spun content on own website?

Allow me to explain:

I've found several keywords that are awesome but they're pretty similar (although not THAT close). I know that over time, I should be able to rank broad match kw's, but that will be in a few months.

In the meantime, how harmful would it be to have a very well spun version of each kw as a completely different page on the same website? Say I found 5 fairly similar keywords, I create 5 different, spun version pages of those.

Big no-no? Gut feeling is telling me to not do it, but just wanted to get you guys' feedback

Thx!

Do you mean spun CONTENT or KEYWORDS. You say a spun version of each keyword, but that doesn't make sense. There is no such thing as a spun keyword, only a similar keyword. That is known as LSI, Latent Semantic Indexing.

If you're talking about spun content, there is nothing wrong with that, as long as it makes sense. Especially if it's going to be "spun very well" it's pretty much unique content then.

Sorry, it's hard to put into words. Obviously, no, I don't mean spun keywords

I meant spun content. I just feel that even though it may be very well spun, the topic is a little redundant.

JMO but Google kinda suggests not doing it. if you mean just substituting different keyword variations.

(quote) Does the site have duplicate, overlapping, or redundant articles on the same or similar topics with slightly different keyword variations?

using spun content for your site is not good. It'll just make the sites competing with each other. I would suggest a unique article for each for the purpose of website content. and of course, high quality.

I wouldn't do it. If its just five pages simply rewrite the content manually each time in your own words. Tedious? Yes! More reliable? Hell yes. Your gut is right. Don't waste your time. Original content that is written for humans and not search engines wins every time.

Ensure you are optimizing your tags and of course doing well-anchored backlinking as well.
