Does Google Keyword Tool Suck? Or am I just missing something?

When using google keyword tool I've found that the information it provided on specific keywords is very broad. For example, google keyword tool shows that all these specific keywords have the exact same local searches (246,000/month).

Am I missing something here?

I've used market samurai and it provides more exact numbers. Is MS the best for finding a more precise search volume or is there something else that works better?

Market Samurai uses the same data GKT does, it just uses some additional one. Have you narrowed your search from Broad term to only Exact (a small menu on the left)?

Wow I feel like a total newb. I missed the Exact option in GKT completely. Thank you

Since MS uses additional data, have you found it to be more accurate or are the results close to GKT?

Yeah, using "Exact" option is the way to go with Google Keyword Tool.

Exact match will show you how many searches a month that users typing in ONLY the EXACT keyword in the search box. For example, a broad result for Search engine optimization could be 500,000 a month. But when you choose Exact option, it might reduce to only 50,000.

I made the same mistake when I first started in SEO. The keyword I targeted has over 1,000 searches/month, but when I chose the Exact match, it reduced to only 120! What a learning experience!

my friend you have just experienced the No. 1 Common mistake on using Google Keyword Tool.

next is thinking that “Competition” refers to other websites targeting your keyword and neglecting to consider the implications of different Keywords.

Ya now that I've seen it I don't know how I missed it

Are you talking about the implication of creating backlinks for different keywords for SEO purposes? or for getting more traffic by optimizing different keywords and pulling in customers who are searching for the other keywords?
