If you're talking about Google PPC, I'd recommend focusing on improving the relevance of your ads.

By doing so, you'll get higher CTR, higher quality scores, and much cheaper clicks.

To accomplish this, I use a separate unique ad for each keyword phrase I'm bidding on.

Each individual keyword phrase is used in the Headline, the body text, and the display URL.

Since this is a lot of work to do manually, I use SpeedPPC's dynamic keyword insertion.

I also use dynamically created landing pages based on each unique keyword phrase.

If you're tired of the hassle of working with Google, try PPV/CPV traffic. Get an account at LeadImpact, and then you're only limited by your ability to write compelling headlines and copy.

I'm glad to answer questions about this, so please feel free to contact me by PM or email.

There is no real tip just blend ads with your text and links. Test different position and find out what suits you best. Try different colors and text sizes.

Lads come on!!! It can't have escaped all three of you that the OP followed up with further details to state that "I'm just talking generally about mailing my list, abouty paid offers, and freebies."

It's all good advice ye are giving but just not relevant to this thread.

This all depends because each niche is different. I would test different ads/headlines or if you are talking about adsense I would test different ad placement.

The best way to do this is to do a one ad vs. another ad and the winner keeps on going. Then, test it against another one until you have the winner at the CTR you want.

Need more information. It all depends on who you're marketing too, and what kind of ads you're talking about.

You need to give us more info than that. Are you referring to Adsense CTR, clickbank, or what?

Break out your mailing list into statistically significant groups and split test.
Test the days you are sending on.
Test the times of the day for the send.
Try multiple different subject lines and analyze which produces the best open rates.
Try different mailing list designs and identify which drive the highest ctrs when it is the same offer (just presented in a different style).

Make sure when you are split testing that you are using enough group participants to provide you with a statistically significant confidence level that X is better than Y
... and don't try to split test everything at once as it will be a lot more work to pick through the results and make decisions confidently.
