Google began implementing a new algorithm in February 2011 to help insure that top ranked websites provide high quality content. The algorithm is named after its creator, a Ph.D in Computer Science named Navneet Panda. The details of the algorithm are kept secret but by taking a look at how google processes content, we can begin to see how this new Panda algorithm affects the overall ranking of a website.

The Panda algorithm is designed to use all of the variables in the meta tags and provide an adjusted IR score based on quality of the content. This will affect a webpage if it has:

    - Empty content on web pages

    - High Ad ratio

    - Too many repeated keywords

    - Template footprint

    - Grammatical errors

Every web page’s content and every backlink that a webpage points to, is run through the Crawler and anylized by the IR algorithm and then given an IR score. This score is then combined with Pagerank to produce a final ranking.

How Does Google Analyze Web Page Content?

How does google decide if your websites content is good or bad? Does a google bot read through your webpage and give you a high score if he enjoyed reading your blog? Search engines such as Google use what's called a Web Crawler (also known as search engine bot or search engine spider) for downloading and anylizing the content on a web page. The web crawler will visit millions of websites per day and extract all of the text and return it back to the search engines server to be anyilzed.

The web crawler uses Google's Information Retrievel (IR) algorithm to parse all text from meta tags (i.e. <title> Your website </title>) to find title, anchor text, position, images, URL, font, capitalization information, etc. For example, iF tHE LisT HaS WORDSlike THIS. The web crawler will give you a low score!

Yes I do agree with Fiberoptic.

If you have purchased backlinks or added some low PR backlinks then according to Panda your website will be given a low mark due to which your website will find hard to index in the search engine.

Would you say that this means purchased backlinks (e.g. via Fiverr) or just the typical link-farm-type sites?

          Hi,

As per my experience Purchasing of backlinks are necessary but
you shouldn't purchase huge backlinks with PR0 or no PR and nofollow.
I always generate dofollow backlinks and that to above PR2. They are in the
range of PR2-PR7. I use my ScrapeBox and harvest forums,Blogs,Article submission sites in the above PR range.

I have also purchased backlinks from fiverr but I didn't find them useful.

Hope this will clear your doubts.

          Thanks

Google Panda is an update to Google's search algorithm that fundamentally changed the way search engine optimization works on Google. Introduced in February 2011, Google Panda increases the quality of search results provided from a Google search. Before Panda, PageRank was the main methodology that Google used to determine who showed up in what position on Google searches.

Google Panda is a change to the Google's search results ranking algorithm that was first released in February 2011. The change aimed to lower the rank of "low-quality sites", and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search results. Google Panda was built through an algorithm update that used artificial intelligence in a more sophisticated and scalable way than previously possible. Human quality testers rated thousands of websites based on measures of quality, including design, trustworthiness, speed and whether or not they would return to the website.

A: Un-embed video pages - These appear to be tripping the alarm bells in Panda, but you can get around it by adding a robot no-index meta tag to the page.
B: Related video pages present a similar problem as above and can be combated in the same manner.
C: Topic Pages - Topic pages with too little relevant content appear to be a point of penalization, so again, add a robot no-index meta tag to the page.
D: Page links - Too many page links on an individual page also appears to be a problem for Panda. Positive results have been claimed after cutting down the amount of links and retaining only those that are truly relevant.

Google panda is about changing the search result algorithms and updating the ranking of the sites like lower the rank of poor quality sites and assigns top ranking to high quality sites. It mainly focuses on the content quality so it should be unique and have relevancy to the site and also consider the quality of back links.
