I tried to navigate to my lens:

Characteristics of a Good Classifieds Site

by pasting it on google but nothing came out in the serps. A decent lens I created several months ago and was ranking at the bottom of page 1 just disappeared. It had only 1 link to a blog post that itself has no links on it and is a great read.
Has anyone experienced this before ?

Thank you in advance for sharing any opinion or suggestions on how to get it back !

Update: Lens is back(see the update at the bottom)

Try building some links to it and it will probably reindex.

Squidoo is becoming more strict nowadays. Most of my valuable lenses received the red marks because they want me to change my intro image. Squidoo is still a source of authority links though

Mine seem to be ok, but I've heard others say squidoo has been applying "noindex" to certain pages. Find out why... like Rache said maybe it's a quality thing that you can edit.

For me, the only lenses that get de-indexed, or put into WIP, are the ones that have had zero traffic in a long time, and that also haven't been updated in a long time. Combine these two things with a lens that has no squidlikes, and you are almost guaranteed a de-index. Were any of these the case with your lens? 2 of these can be easily fixed.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. From them, I learnt it all comes to updating and getting traffic to them. But nowhere did I find this requirement on their site. It sucks that a lens on page 1 is deindexed and even if reindexed it will not retain any age value.

      Lisakleinweber,

Yes, what you said is the case with my lens. I don't know about squidlikes. Also, I don't see it reasonable or even doable to keep updating one's lens. I mean, at some point, info will simply max out, no ?

If you had a website, you would be better off to try to update your pages often. Google likes fresh results, and that does not just include new pages. It also includes new information on old pages. Many evergreen pages will only stay evergreen if you update them sometimes - because life is always moving and never staying still.

Besides, at squidoo, you don't have to add new information. Just add a module, or change some text - make a paragraph more focused and tighter. It's easy. and it counts.

It's not as critical that you worry so much about adding new content via "modules" to maintain rankings. If you're getting traffic and you have a quality lens, it will continue to produce comments that will take care of generating fresh new content, even if it's in small bits.

The same goes with linkbuilding. I'll never encourage poor link velocity for rank maintenance, but if the site is pulling traffic and can compell people to continuously make social votes, i.e. Facebook likes, Tweets, +1's, Pins, etc., these will create a form of backlink, and will help substantiate that your page content is still popular and relevant.
