Hi,
Everybody is saying that your website should have original content, but i really don't know what original content is. If I select an article from another website and writes it in my own wording and make it completely different from the original article, is this an original content?.
#content #meant #original

Original content means a fresh content of article or blog which was never used before by anyone and totally unique content. If you are doing full editing of used content and make it totally unique then previous one, then it's considered as original content.

In relation to Google, the term original content means something very different to the rest of the world. Rewritten content is indeed handed by Google as if it were original. This isn't because Google has lower standards than many academic or professional fields where this wouldn't be the case, it is just that Google struggles to determine the difference between rewritten and truly unique content.

Many of the most popular sites on the web are news oriented. These sites often carry a lot of quotations, feature pieces that are little more than re-writes of agency copy and contain no link to the original source. The content of an individual news article may be between 25-50% duplicate content (due to the quotes). The point of this is that Google is even tolerant of duplicate content, to a small extent. Generally, the more trusted and established the site, the more forgiving that Google will be in the case of duplicate content.

Pretty much. But research to gain more knowledge to make your article even better and more informative. Be the #1 source in your niche.

Unique content is content that you write yourself or have written by someone else (outsourced).

All in all, you are the owner of the content and have the right to sue anyone who would try to steal it from you.

Content doesn't have to be just text. It can be video, audio, presentation files, PDFs, docs, etc.

Original content is content you can't find anywhere else that you or a trusted source created. This refers to way more than words and text however. Images, videos, and even ideas are not original unless they come direct from you, not another source. It's okay to read something by someone else and say - hey, I should write on that topic, but it's not okay to say, how can I reword their ideas to pass the Google algorithm. Best practice is to use the idea as a jumping off point - do more research so you can quote a variety of sources - or use your creative mind to come up with something fresh. If you link back to the original article and give proper attribution, it's ok to quote another source as your inspiration, too. Content is very important in SEO.It plays very major role to improve or to spoil the reputation of your website.Original content means the content is not duplicate.Content should always be unique then others present on the internet.Google gives lot of preference to those websites which follow this rule and can help to increase the rankings also.

Original content is basically your own voice in your writing... implementing your own attitude, skills and knowledge (experiences) and blending it all together in your topic of choice.

So, in terms of SEO content syndication is dead as a rubber duck?

I bet there are some very prominent article writers, syndicating content, who will be very unhappy about that!

In my opinion, the worst thing you can do is take a piece of content and rewrite it. It is better to syndicate the content from a source that allows you to do so (EZA, YouTube etc.).

Is there any evidence to support the "duplicate content penallty" provided by anyone not affiliated in any way with article spinning software? Most of those who say duplicate content is bad are those who has made their business of helping people create "original" content.

Have a read of the second post in this thread, the post by Alexa Smith. Pay special attention to the link about duplicate content.

If you want original content, and you should want some of that as well, go write it yourself, or hire someone to write it. Make the concepts and ideas original as well. Don't just rewrite somebody elses original work. That's as bad as stealing it.

Rewriting content isn't any different than people writing non-fiction books. Everyone that writes books does some type of research on the subject, even If it's first hand knowledge they gained over the course of a career, they still started out reading something.

Just like this entire forum, the same subjects get repeated day after day after day... it doesn't mean it's all stolen content, it means for the most part people are interested in the subject, in our case SEO.

When you rewrite line by line, word by word it is. I'm all for researching a number of sources and creating your own work based your research. Spinning and rewriting word by word is not the same thing as that. In my opinion.

    • Original content refers to a blog post, article, image, or video that is fresh and unique. If you rewrite an existing article and it passes Copyscape and other plagiarism checkers, it can be considered original. However, if you want to keep your readers engaged and provide value to your audience, you should try to offer fresh information that can't be found anywhere else. Express your point of view even if you have a different perspective on the topic that is being discussed. A truly original post is one that offers a unique perspective.

The idea of original Content can be very subjective. In fact, a grand majority of content content that is generated comes from what people have done research on. Take example I could write an article about "5 Best SEO tactics", and find out that later on that there are thousands of other people using the same tactics, only a little different. Bottom line is that I would be upset if someone just copied my content word for word, and claimed that it was their own creation. But I can't be upset if the person looks at my content, takes my ideas and adds their own style.

Rewriting content is actually OK, as long as you're submitting it to non-manual approve websites, such as GoArticles. I do it quite alot!
