So there's this girl I know. She works for one of the big four accounting firms, meh. Anyways, she wanted to make some extra money for random expenses (car, mobile, get a new laptop - random stuff). I told her to build some sites, answered some questions, spent like 5-6 hours walking her through things.

That was in April. She'd ask questions from time to time, but not that many tbh.

Just had a bbq at hers with some friends - checked her Adsense account and she's doing $25-$30/day now with four websites. She built 10 or 11 sites in total, but some sites get literally no clicks (bad niches - "vitamin X benefits" and such) or don't rank. Total investment of $2000 or so including SEO. None of her keywords are top 3, though most are on page one...

All content bought from textbroker (level 4, I think). She got an ahrefs half price sub for a month to do niche research.

Here's what I'm trying to say: she doesn't know about this forum or any other IM forums. She doesn't read IM blogs and doesn't know much about SEO (I told her to buy high PR links from certain providers I've used in the past - that's it). She doesn't care about building a long-term business or anything like that. Yet she's earning more than probably about 90% of this forum (I know that some of you are balling out of control - this isn't directed at you).

I mean she didn't even know that people sell Adsense sites.

Scattered focus brings scattered results. Think about it.

I think I'm drunk.

    Great post!

    Can't say everyone hasn't been told this a million times before, it's just easy to forget when the next shiny object comes around (at the pace of 32,274 per day).

    Shut off email, plan out your time, laser focus your actions and enjoy better results.

    I was doing IM years before I even knew what IM was, or that this forum existed. I was on DP (short term mistake) & found a link to Warrior Forum.

    Also, my brother does Adsense/Youtube, does decent bringing in an extra $1k per month (nothing big but it serves it's purpose (vacation)) & doesn't even own a website, he owns a domain but nothing on it. He works off-line full time & likes what he does, the Adsense started out as extra money to take my nieces to Disney.

    My point is everyone has different needs when it comes to IM.

      I think the first IM forum I joined was called associateprograms or something like that? Fun times.

    Good post OP.

    I think the one thing people forget that really is the X factor is content creation.

    People get too hung up on SEO techniques and neglect content, which pretty much is the most important part of being successful.

    However if you combine your knowledge of SEO with good content you can go quite far in this game.

      Just comes down to taking action.

      Most people here are to hung up on learning, asking questions buying IM products anything but actually taking action.

      I'm not big on Adsense but I did that last month. Spent $1000 on articles and built 12 sites. Doubled up my adsense and they aren't even ranking yet.

      Pretty much. I just think that it's pretty awesome how some people sort of just do it and get results while others spend days debating crap on forums and then make threads crying about how hard IM is.

      Congrats on doubling your Adsense monies.

    That reminds me of myself when I was starting out a few years ago. This is what I did:

    I had no clue about SEO and barely understood what a backlink was. I knew how affiliate marketing works and thought I would promote Amazon products.

    I would visit this forums from time to time but I didn't really bother about CPA, PPC, PPV and other marketing terms, I was just focused on my Amazon affiliate marketing.

    I would build one website every week, all unique content written by myself (I didn't have the money to buy content) and even though I was not making any money yet, I was persistent with my efforts, although I couldn't even know whether my efforts would pay off (I was still a newbie).

    I optimized the sites around "Christmas" keywords - I targeted keywords like "Christmas gifts something" etc.

    Without doing any SEO, without even knowing how much traffic the keywords were getting back then (I didn't have a clue about keyword research, I just randomly picked the keywords I thought would be good), I made over $1,000 during the Christmas period.

    Over the years I've learned a lot (both through my own mistakes and by doing research and reading) which eventually led me to create my Amazon Revolution course, but I did start with nothing but a dream.

    So I would say, focus + persistence > knowledge. Of course, you need some knowledge, but you don't by any means need to know every aspect of IM in order to be successful. You only need to master one business model.

      I've noticed a lot of people seem to be stuck in the 'trying to find the best strategy' phase. Although some strategies work better than others, don't let that stop you from taking the first step. You'll fine tune what works and what doesn't as you go on. Forums like WF are great for exchanging ideas and motivation, but it's easy to let information overload cause you to spin your wheels.

      I started my first niche site back in late January and was stuck in the 'trying to find the best strategy' phase for like 2 months without making a cent. Luckily I recognized why I wasn't getting anywhere, decided to stick with one strategy and have kept focus ever since. My first niche site started generating income in mid April and I just cleared the $3,000 mark, which isn't a jaw dropping amount of money, but I'm very proud of it considering it was entirely generated from one site.

      WF is a great resource, in moderation. Finding and trying new strategies is essential to growing your passive income, but the most important thing is to take action and get the ball rolling first.

    Sounds like she really put quality in and since she didn't have the time or talent to write (some people just don't have the writing thing down and thats fine we all have different things we are good at) she made quite an investment.

    From what I see people really fight the one universal law of business -

    You need either solid effort or significant cash to get any business going.

    The overwhelming majority of WSO or product launches unfortunately try to sell the dream of defeating those two and people get the same kind of results as trying to defeating gravity by flapping their arms.

      Truuf. She told me that if she had to write articles like that = she would rather... you get the point.

      Absolutely. It's easy to forget that there's a whole other world outside of IM forums where people don't really have this mentality. They either work for someone else or run their own businesses. You can't "sort of want to try to make money maybe doing this thing with no monies up front for like two hours a day" and expect to actually succeed offline.

      Forums such as this one can sometimes be toxic to newbies. Especially the more gullible ones.

      ...and people get the same kind of results as trying to defeating gravity by flapping their arms.
