If it's your site you can use the noindex meta tag - it will even let you control which search engines can index your content and which ones can't.

You weren't talking about de-indexing someone else's site were you?

no-index tag ( or wordpress plugin) tells the search engines not to index your site.

But if it is already indexed and you want to remove them from SERPS then , first put the no-index tag ( or wordpress plugin if you are using wordpress) then update the content on the page a littlebit ( preferably at the beginning of the page) and ping google to come to your site.

When google comes back it knows you do not want the page to be indexed. Will be removed from the index. Usually it takes about a week or two to change the serp results if your urls are already in the index.

Also, you can try putting URLs in robots.txt to keep search engines aways.

Deep indexing regers to the inner links present in the site and hence the more deep inner links, the better it is actually.

I have several sites that I want to do away with but would like to reuse the articles on a new site. I am basically wanting to combine several smaller sites into one larger site.

In that case, the fastest way is:

      1. block Google completely with robots.txt at the old domain
      2. go into webmaster tools > optimization > remove urls
      3. click 'create removal request', leave the box empty and click continue.

That will de-index the entire site within a few hours to a day or so. You can fill in the box at step 3, to remove sections or subfolders of a site if you wish.
