Hello guys,

I need honest response from ones experienced in Amazon product review sites. Since niche that I am familiar with is highly competitive, I would like to start Amazon product review site in some niche that don't have such hard competition, but I would have a problem in writing reviews then. So question here is: Is it good idea to buy product reviews? If answer is yes, what would be reasonable price per review to pay? Thanks!

You can of course outsource the reviews mate. There are lots of good writers here on the forum who can offer you their services.

You can also use other sites like IWriter, TextBroker, etc.

The rates will vary wildly; of course, most of the time, the less you pay, the lower will be the quality. You can expect to pay anything from $3 to $15 for a 500-word review.

If you work with freelancers, make sure you give them clear instructions about what you want, like:
"I want you to talk about the XX and YY features, list 2 pros and cons, do not make the cons sound too bad, etc."

A reasonable price to pay is about $10 per review that is around 500 words. Generally, $5 reviews aren't well written or well structured and just sound like a sales pitch.

My main concern here is that money invested into reviews pays off, I know product selection is important too, maybe even more important then review itself, but for example 30 reviews x $10 is $300, that would be too much money for me to lose if site fails

There is always that possibility mate, if you are just starting out and don't have the money to risk, you can always write the reviews yourself. It may not be as fast as buying them from freelancers (depending on your day job, etc.), you may end up with better content in the end.

And once you start to earn and gauge the potential of your niches, you can then start to outsource.

I am thinking this would be good thing to do: find a cheap freelancer that writes one review for 3-5$, order 3 reviews, do that with like 5 different freelancers at once, and you could possibly from the 5 freelancers find a talented one that actually writes good reviews and keep working with him. Worst thing that can happen if reviews are not that good is that you spend $50-$70, but you still have reviews that you could use

    • There are many websites where you can find a good writer to write reviews. You can either use a site like textbroker, hire a freelancer from oDesk or Elance, or work with a virtual assistant who provides copywriting services.

You get what you pay for - if your target audiences primary language is English I would expect to pay between $10-$20 for a decent 1,000 word review.
