I am thinking of hosting a domain with blogger.com. What has been the experience of others who have done that for having more domain IP address variety? Was it hard to set up?

And I think there were a couple others you could host your domain with, but could not remember them off the top of my head. Any body list them for me?

Thanks.

Jeannie

Could you expand on your answer, you have me interested in what that might be. Are you talking about hosting yourself and just using a wordpress blog?

It isn't hard at all. However, I would personally recommend a free wordpress.com blog(with your domain name, ofcourse) so that you can seamlessly move to your own hosting in the future if needed, without any change in the existing site - URL, look and feel, features etc. Wordpress is a lot more flexible and powerful platform.

I recommend Wodpress, more user friendly and easy to use.

I used Blogger custom domains exclusively for yrs. I was able to make a little over 2,000 a month using Adsense. All you need is a theme and content. It used to be really easy to set up your custom domain, all you had to do is buy it through Google and they would do the rest. Now they make you set everything up, something about increasing security. I moved to Wordpress last yr, only thing better is all the plugins.

But I will always love blogger, this site(Off the shoulder tops)still makes me 20 dollars a month from Amazon. Considering it was just a test site with the same content as Amazon and only 400 visits a month I'm amazed it makes any money, that's the power of Blogger lol.

Edit: If you don't like Blogger you can always just transfer the domain and content to Wordpress, it's really easy to do.

Your welcome. Blogger ranks great, I wish it had category pages instead of labels but no biggie. I like the fact that you can have a large website on Wordpress and rank category pages. Blogger has labels and they automatically no index them to avoid duplicate content.

In the past it didn't matter though, all my traffic came from individual posts.

Oh and be prepared to do a lot of manual on page SEO, there is no plugins like Wordpress, I was doing everything by hand. Imagine my surprise when I got to Wordpress and found plugins that can get things done in one click vs me doing it for a hour.
