[Adword]When To Give Up For A Certain Campaign?

I wonder, how am I suppose to know when to give up for certain campaign that don't convert? Or perhaps, I shouldn't give up at all?

The reason I am asking this because I have one campaign that have only 5 clicks over 605 impression in this week...Less than 1 % conversion. Most of the impression and clicks were came from the [trademark keyword.]

I am now seriously considering to give up the campaign , after all, the trademark keyword bid isn't cheap at all for someone like me who have limited budget.

But still, I want to hear you guys opinion about it.

    Buying trademarked word is never good because even though your campaign makes money it is not for long. Google will take your campaign down in a jiffy.

      Hi keivn2,

      You should experiment with different ads to see if you can find one that gets a better CTR. It can be a little bit more difficult with trademark terms since you cannot include the term in the text of the ad.

      If you can find a suitable generic or clever replacement for the term in your ad text, you can still make it work. The bottom line is you need to run a few experiments before giving up. Give up on the ad, not the campaign, you don't even have a thousand impressions yet.

        So am I suppose to give up once I have 1000 impression ? Because I already try a lot of ads, heck I even copy my competitor's ads but still, in the end, I got nothing. My QS steadily dropping each day.

        Basically, I kinda frustrated. I don't know either I am just not good or the products have been saturated long enough.

          AdWords will reevaluate your QS after 1000 impressions based on your CTR. If you have a better than average CTR for the keyword then you will see your QS improve. If you have a lower than average CTR you will see your QS suffer.

          You should try to write better ads than your competitors, not the same. You should also look at your account structure as this can make a huge difference in your quality score.

          Are you sticking with long tail exact match versions of your keywords? Are you limiting your keywords per ad group to just one? Are you writing multiple ads customized to the exact keyword in your ad group?

          There are so many ways to optimize your campaign, you can't just throw something up, you must out perform your competitors or get out!

    My question is, are you losing money or have you made money on it? If you are loosing money and you have ran for a week then can it. If you have made money or breaking even, then tweak it.

      Sometimes the best PPC Kws (i.e. with high ROI & low CPC) have no direct relationship with the niche you are promoting via PPC campaign. For example, I used to promote antivirus products via PPC and a good PPC kw could be something like this "computer too slow why" or "someones hacking my PC".

      Having said that, searchers for the kw "computer too slow why" would expect to see a landing page title/sub-title addressing their problem immediately (e.g. Fix Your Slow Computer In Less Than 3 Minutes!). They don't care if it was a virus infections or not, as long as your product can solve their problem asap that is all they want and want it now.

      Conclusion: Think Outside the Box..
