Do Pages and Posts Boost Home Page Ranking?

Here is a question that I haven't yet found an answer to. If I was to rank for "this keyword" and assume that my site is not currently ranking for "this keyword" If I create a blog post targeting "this keyword" does just that blog post pull rank or will that boost my site's rank?

The reason that I ask is I am currently targeting a specific keyword. It is doing alright but could use some help. If I write a blog post targeting that keyword will that push my home page ranking up or will the blog post rank separately by itself?

    The amount of link juice flowing into each page varies. If your high ranking post contains lots of juice, then you can pass some of that juice to other pages on your site.

    This is the main reason why you always want to link to one of your pages before linking to someone else's page. Hope that helps.

      That clears that up a bit, on to writing some blog posts and hopefully seeing some serp improvement along the way.

    Also, link juice of a domain and page is different...if your domain has good link juice then your pages would also get benefit of that.. but if you build links to certain page then only that page would have the benefit and can't be shared with other pages.
