Is This A Recurring Theme With New Sites?

I got bored and decided to conduct a few experiments and one thing I noticed is that with new sites, if you drip feed some very powerful links they will continue to go up and suddenly disappear and reappear around 240-260s and then "might" come back to it's original position or higher.

I know this would be termed as "google dance" but my main question is regarding the domain dropping into the 240-260.

I'm not new to this (for the last couple of users I've been only dealing with my sites I've had since 2001) and I never see this behavior with my aged sites, but I am somewhat new to studying the behavior of new domains and what google dose with them.

When you guy's create newly registered domains, do you see the same violent behavior as far as the domain dropping down all the way into the 240-260's before rising back up?

I have seen similar results with new sites I have launched in the past and it usually always comes back...

I've only seen that type of dance when a web page is blasted with low quality links.

Yea i've experienced this many times. Google sees lots of new links, spazzes out, site goes down to 300+ sometimes, and sometimes is completely removed from the serps (not de-indexed) then comes back to its original position or better.

Yeah, I'm currently experiencing that with some of my sites right now. Currently they're slowly crawling back to where they were.
