The general advice is to build links from authoritative sites. Authority is usually based on the link profile quality: those sites receiving links from relevant and authoritative sites tend to grow a higher authority.

You can make yourself an idea about the authority a site is holding by checking it against:

    - Actual domain pagerank value: you can use any online free PR checker. There are a lot out there. The pagerank measures link profile quality from 0 to 10. 2 or 3 is ok, 4 is pretty good, 5 and over is a lot.

    - MOZ authority. That is a metric by moz.com that seems to be very accurate in terms of link profile quality measurement. You can use their free online tool: opensiteexplorer.org to check it.

There are other online tools that give you quality metrics, like ahrefs.com, but I would stick to those two since they are free and seem to be the most reliables.

You can start building inbound links by writing articles relating to your niche and linking them back to your site. Just create a profile for an article directory and start writing.

Doing it manually will only help you out. Then once you are approved share it on social networks. Just doing this for a week can really help you become an author. Now think about it if you do it for a year!
    Hope this helps!

    Hi Ofer,

I would suggest you build links by posting content to related, quality high PR sites, press releases, to web 2.0 sites and to article directories. Good content with backlink to your site really helps a lot in terms of ranking.

Aside from that, do not forget to share your content to social media sites.

You may also market to forums and community based sites but make sure that you are contributing good content first.

When it comes to knowing which sites are good to build your backlinks, I suggest you use tools like SEO Quake for firefox, link finder by Affilotools (Affilorama Premium), and backlinks tool by Traffic Travis. These are just few of the handy tools you can check out and use to find quality websites.

    Good luck!

You might publish interviews with those lecturers and ask them if they can link to your interview (in case they have a website or blog) or there might be even other websites linking to it (like universities - in case the lecturer is a professor etc.)

The best way to get inbound links is by including informative, helpful text information in your web pages, so that other site and blog owners will want to link to them. The search engines rate these 'natural' links highest of all and give your web pages a higher ranking if you have them. Share your expertise with your customers!

I also think that especially after the Google Updates during the last two years, links from good forums are among the best links you can get; and the users who click on these links are usually more engaged on your website than users who come through search engines

Try some raw url links from Youtube video descriptions. You could upload snippets of the lectures to your Youtube channel and then have links from the uploads to the relevant page on your site.

Search on Google for sites that are relevant to yours.

Then start doing blog comments on them. This is a slow process, but it works in the long run – IF – you are consistent and persistent.

    All the best. Regards.

Contact blog owners in your specific niche and ask them to review your site honestly and post about it on their own blog. Most bloggers consider themselves journalists at heart and will look for the opportunity to do an expose on a new site.
