Does This Sound Like Over-Optimization to You?

If links appear to be listed in the sidebar to the naked eye, but are actually listed at the end of the content (meant to carry more weight that way), is it considered to be over-optimization/gaming the system?

    They are not carrying more weight by being at the end of the content. They would carry more weight by being before the content.

    Either way, no, there is no "over-optimization" there.

      Mike, I just want to make one thing clear. When you say "Either way, no, there is no "over-optimization" there," are you saying it's okay to make links look like they appear at the top of the content to search engines, even if they're not (in sidebar, bottom of page etc)? Looks a bit random to have a few links to individual posts, albeit related, before the content starts and not in the sidebar.

        Whenever you are spending too much time on gimmicks you have SEO issues that you are better off just addressing to begin with..
