Squidoo and Hubpage backlinks?

I've heard it said that Squidoo owns it's backlinks. What exactly does that mean? Is that correct? If I post an article and have a backlink to my site, do I actually get "credit" for a backlink?

Both places link will be no follow. Is that credit is not enough? Take a tip - find your niche related hubpages where the owner has got reputation and his links will be dofollow. Contact him and pay him 20-25 bucks and ask him to insert your keyword in the middle of the already existing (high PR) hub article. Fast and easy, spend some time!

What is your advice on this?

Of course, trying to build a good content with a link with a specific anchor text.

    What do you usually do?

As far as I know, they both give no-follow backlinks, which makes them pretty much worthless... Try to use blogspot instead.

AFAIK, Squidoo links are do-follow IF your lense is "featured" (green checkmark).
If your lense is marked as "work in progress", then links are no-follow.
Anyway, has been a while since I used Squidoo, so please check it.

Provide no follow links. It helps but having less impact in SERP and traffic. I have never seen content posted on Squidoo ad hubpages ranking higher in SERP.
I will prefer Tumblr instead and other sites.
