Blog articles and duplicate content

I've just started a blog and I wanted to clear up the situation with having my articles both on my own site and say one other blog site with an author link back to my site.

Will Google punish me for this?
Will Google pass any link juice on to me?

The other thing I wanted to clear up is say I have a situation 6 months down the line and I decide I no longer want one of my older articles to be published on my blog so I remove it. Obviously Google will have indexed the article but it is no longer visible or attainable from my site, I'm guessing next time crawls my site it will see that the content is no longer there. Could I now use this article as a guest post with an author link back to my site?

Yes, you can remove an article from your site and re-publish it elsewhere.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Its ALWAYS better to have original content on your money site. 100% original content.

If you are going to have another blog that you use to promote the first one, then its ok to have an excerpt of that content on the second blog. You want to do this in moderation though if you going to go with the excerpt method.

Google understands that people are going to use the RSS feed of your website to curate content. (Think AP news, their exact stories are syndicated EVERYWHERE).

You just have to chose which site you want to be consider the authority on the topic. The link juice from your secondary blog will then pass to your primary.

Google then uses the published date of a piece of content to decide which one is the original author. All things being equal with everything else that is one that will rank higher. In theory of course. as domain authority and other things need to be taken into account.

On the question of "will you be punished" yes, but only if you decide to create a few hundred different sites. In your case your promoting one site with another site so you will be ok.

        Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply. What I want to do is have content on my blog and use the same articles on other blogs for guest posts to gain a link back to my main site (blog is within my main site). The articles will only be used once for a guest post not spun lots of times. I don't mind the article ranking for my own blog as who whole point of the exercise is to gain a link back to my main site. So to summarize I'm ok to do this for seo purposes?

Make sure your article have no duplication issues.. with latest Google algorithm, your site will be invisible from their page result. Make a unique content and re-publish it

Mhh why would you just wast your time to duplicate your content on two different websites, why not write some teasers, give them 20% and some nice call-to-actions to your main website... It's a bit more work, but you will be safe for algo changes and you will gain a lot more traffic

Sorry but a lot of people are wrong here. Make sure your article is indexed on your website first & then you can distribute it as a guest post with an author link to your sie.

    Hi
I believe that Google love unique and new content if you have a blog and a website then I suggest do not post similar content on both rather publish unique content on both sites and giving links to each other in anchor texts.

Along with posting informative content, it is also important to link content to one another. If you are creating a new article, link it to some older article that you have published. This will help in passing on the link juice.

After the Google’s recent Panda update, it is quite clear that the game of SEO surrounds now just around content only. The more fresh and unique content you will post to your website the more it will be benefited in terms of rankings. Keep the content of your blog and webpage unique otherwise you will not get any benefit from the blog, as Google simply hates duplicate content whether it’s on your own website or blog.
