Error: Page contains property "mileage" which is not part of the schema.

I would like to know how can I add a custom microdata property in a way that Google Structured Data Testing Tool doesn't complains.
I need, for instances, to add a property called 'mileage' but then I am getting the following error from Google tool:
Page contains property "mileage" which is not part of the schema.
There is a way to turn around it?
If I decide to keep the property regardless the error message will Google invalidate my whole page, will ignore the property or what?
