No this won't hurt your ranking. This essentially could be done if you had kept the www and simply <link rel="canonical" href> (i know its not complete) and left the www out.

Thanks for the reply. Should I have to add the www version of my blog in Google Webmasters Tools.

    WWW World Wide Web

Made good branding back in the early days of the interwebs. Catchy lalalalaaaa... Branding, public interwebs awareness week. In reality it's just a subdomain like any other. You can name them whatever you like, they get treated the same.

Either having or not having the "www" before the rest of your URL should not make a difference at all when it comes to rankings.

As far a GWT I am not sure... but I don't think Google differentiates between the two, so I would probably just add in the domain itself. The spiders should not have a issue.

To answer your question, just like others have said, switching to the www version won't have any effect on your current ranking positions. All you have to do if you are using WordPress is log into your dashboard, click on settings, and change the home and site url fields to the www version of your site. Or you can just setup a Cpanel redirect or use an SEO plugin.

Once you've done that, log into your webmaster tools account and set your preferred domain to the www version. Here's an article that explains how to do that: https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/44231?hl=en

It's not absolutely necessary but it expedites the process

Either way is fine, it's not going to make a difference in terms of rankings. Looks like seopower made it easy for you, just follow those instructions.

For services dont' use www - for retail do use it - as long as the redirects are correct no problem either one.

It doesn't matter, pick one & stick with it.

Redirect the one you don't use back to whatever you decide to use.

Using www version or non www version will not affect you ranking, it is a matter of preference. What is important is to redirect the version which is not used to the one you have chosen by using 301 redirect to avoid duplicate versions of your website.

Yes you will have to add the www version to your GWT. You just add it, and you don't have to change / remove the non www version.

Just redirect it if you don't want to stick without www. There will be a zero % effect on your work.

It does not matter what you choose with www or without www just make sure that both URLs point to your blog and website otherwise Google is going to assume that your blog has two URLs one which start with www and other which without www.
