Mostly on FB - but I have made some similar images for other businesses (as a way to help brand and get their sites shared by others) so I know they have been used . . . but I don't know...

If I were in your shoes . . .

I would go to the most popular social media sites, see what sizes they suggest work best on their particular site, then make a note of it and proceed doing the same...
