Also, it's usually not a good idea to have your domains and website hosted at the same place. It's better to separate the two, if at all possible.

Also, hostgator technical support is second to none, and I find that the tech support personnel there are pretty knowledgeable and easy to reach over the phone.

I second that, this is the combination that I use too (well, I split my domains between Godaddy and namecheap).

If I had to choose between the two, I'd definitely pick Hostgator. Not only is Godaddy's control panel confusing and different from the industry standard cPanel, their basic hosting is very limited...
