IMO that is not enough. You have to build a relation with your list. Not all my e-mails are for making affiliate sales. As a matter of fact. 70% of my e-mails are pure information to feed feed feed...

Yes it is, but it is the "correctly" part in your setence that will define if you will build your list with success. Ofcourse there are more factors like eyecandy, position of optin etc.
