I agree for the most part, but comparing looking for a book in a library to the ways a search engine serves up results are an apples and oranges comparison.

Google uses much more sophisticated methods weighing heavily on the page content these days.

I wouldn't say the domain is unimportant, but doesn't weigh as heavily now as it once did. ;)
