The best way is for them to email you a zip file. Then you can unzip and ftp to your server.

Be careful to keep the same structure as you receive it, the folders might have images, javascript, css that might break if you change the order of the files delivered.

If they do the complete job (eg. it requires no editing) you could even just ask them kindly to upload it for you

If you receive the files in a .zip format, simply FTP the zipped file on your server. Then unzip it at your server. Most servers have the unzip option. If its not available on your FTP, login with your cpanel/admin details.
This way theres little chance of messing up the directory structure. Stephen |

Hello,
A lot of designer send the design in a .zip or .rar format You need to extract that. Maybe the designer have put it on one folder called any name. You just take where the html files located. Example : In the Folder 1 you have this files: index.html style.css images (folder) So you need to upload all this 3 files into you hosting. If you want to used it on you domain, just upload it on /public_html folder If you want to used it on subdomain, just upload it to /public_html/your_subdomains Hope this helps. Regards |

Sorry been having trouble making posts to different sections of wf and the count of my posts is a little behind. I don't know what counts where. :-(
In answer to the above. It depends on what you asked the web designer for. If you only wanted the graphics then they may only give you the images and expect you to finish the page. If you requested them to create the page then they should give you a html page. The will zip it before sending it, you will then unzip it and upload using ftp as the others above have already mentioned. |

Thank you all very much, you have given me great help. But in conclusion to what I have read, doing it on my own might cause trouble in addition the zip file might be too big to send in the first place.
My designer already offered to upload it for me, and from your answers I guess this is the best option I have at hand. Thank you all again, you have helped me a great deal |

If you are worried about emailing a zip file there is a much easier option. There is a place where they will store your zip file and then you tell the person where they can find the file.
Its free and its easy and i use it all the time. Its RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting |

For me as a designer I always give the client the option of me uploading the site/page via ftp to their server, on completion I email or send msg via instant chat to let them know I am finished & to please go & change their password on their server.
Like Stephen said up above, if you receive the total files in a zip, simply upload the zip & unzip directly on the server in the required folder you wish it to be contained within! Cheers! |

Email is still a good transfer option. Keep track of the information you receive here. You never when you might need them..

As a designer I usual use dreamweaver to FTP the site to the users hosting. Just give your designer your hosting, username, & password for hosting and they should be able to acomplish this. Make sure they are capable of FTPing before you give them this information.

I usually upload the files if they need me to, this way if something is 'off' it can be fixed quicker. All you need is the FTP info such as ftp address, username and password.
Even so you should get a zip file of them all. |

Hi! I"m a little curious how much designers charge to build a landing page with good
graphics and your text. Are most designers willing to post it on your hosting service? |

I would have it uploaded to your domain and then FTP it onto your own baqck up drive. You can always have the password changed during the process.
