I've been reading different threads about web design and all and I've notice that a lot of people have mentioned that its good to know photoshop. I've never used photoshop, but I'm curious as to why it's so important?

When I think of web designers I think of people sitting at a computer typing out codes lol.

    Photoshop is very useful tool for anyone who is in web designing profession as it helps to resize/edit an image in many layers to create for logos, banners, buttons, removal of scratches, blur etc. and it can be changed/edit anytime in future very easily. These days there are many drag and drop tools which can be used by web designers to create a website. So knowledge of code is not that much necessary for a designer.

    Photoshop is very useful software to create and edit different images for you website if you have little knowledge of photoshop.

    I'm now the "owner" of photoshop and illustrator etc. What do you guys recommend using as far as learning how to use this stuff? I've been editing my own photos and practicing but I'm sure there's TONS of stuff that I don't even realize I can do with it lol and I'd like to learn

    If you are going to work with web desing then photoshop and illustrator is a must. And of course with these 2 design can't complete I think.

    Every web designer must know adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator. Both are designing tools, main difference is photoshop works on pixels where illustrator works on vectors.

    You may learn these tools from paid or free courses but actual performance and quality will come from practising those skills. Join up on freelancing websites to start with small icon/logo/banner designs then move up to websites.

    Actually most of the web designers code a site from psd. Designer create a design for a website in photoshop and when a client approves it, then developer code it from that photoshop file. So if you are a coder then you definitely knows how to use photoshop.

    Photoshop is old school web design.

    Even If you do a mockup of a webpage in 2016 odds are you'll only slice one or two images to use on the actual site.

    It's nice to have but not even remotely necessary for creating webpages.

    Pictures and images are a big part of web design. You don't need to be a graphic designer to build website, but you do need to know how to properly manipulate images if you build websites. Photoshop is a tool that is great for manipulating images. Illustrator is great for logos and text that you want to convert to images. YouTube is a great place to start learning both Photoshop and Illustrator. I use both primarily for manipulating existing photos and vectors.

    Well, most websites are designed first with Photoshop.

    There is few other software but this one is very powerful and known. You can even learn by trying, yes you need to learn from tutorials to difficult things but I learned by playing with it.

    Well i need to be working with photoshop more now, this is interesting. I don't get how you make a website with photoshop tho. I can understand the picture editing etc

    It's handy, another string to my bow.
    I have saved so much money on things like logo's, ecovers, banners, ad layouts etc.

    I feel more in control when i do things. I'm not a designer i struggle with the ideas part but i can put stuff together that looks great.

    Photoshop is one of them which is widely used by web designers. It is very easy to learn if basic fundamentals are clear.

    1. PSD to HTML

    2. Any Images resize crop and save in web page mode

    3. Banner design and animation design
