Hello

I have just been asked to upgrade a clients current shop and was thinking about building it on wordpress using the shopperpress theme.

Does anyone have any experience with the theme or would you reccomend s different CMS ?

Thanks
Sam

If the shop is a pure eCommerce site you may be better off using something like Prestashop, which is designed as an eCommerce platform from the ground up.

However, if you definitely want to use WordPress then EcWid is what I use for shops on WordPress.

It's a hosted solution where you manage your products and prices on the EcWid platform and embed the shop front on your site (in the same way as you do YouTube vids). It's intuitive and easy to set up and they have excellent support.

I wrote a review of it here:

      Good writeup Martin!

I'm tried a few, ie Shopperpress theme & WooCommerce. Both had their little demons! Will try out ECWID, and also look at BigCommerce.

    I'd recommend Woocommerce from woothemes.com

Use one of their woocommerce specific theme, and they have plenty of extensions.

Another one I use is ecwid.com

Shopperpress looks great in my opinion. Though Abledragon is right, I would have to disagree. By using WordPress to run your store you get all of the control you could ever want over your website and the ease of making changes.

Plus you never know what else you may want to add to your site in the future

I've worked with wordpress ecommerce themes/plugins before and didn't really like them. Now I'm using BigCartel and just styled my storefront to look like my site.

I absolutely agree with Abledragon. Using Wordpress and then tacking on a module to make it into a store is a non-scalable solution. Sooner or later you will discover that there is a feature or capability you need that is not there and you will hit a wall. You will then have to start over with real eCommerce software like PrestaShop, which is what I highly recommend.
