    Wrong question, sorry.

Nobody can tell you what theme is the best for your site. Your requirements(?) listed above are so generic that don't mean anything...

Also, "decent looking" is not an objective description of design features and/or layout - just a subjective approach.

Only YOU can decide which theme works the best with your topics, site goal, target audience etc.

      I agree with Istvan . . .

but a couple of places that have great themes are

      StudioPress and Elegant Themes.

If you find a theme from either one of these vendors, the theme will be solid and the customer service top notch.

      Good luck to you,

      Steve

I've stopped using premade themes altogether. I find they are hard to figure out how to customize, and limiting.

I use headway right now, which is a blank slate and I can make all sorts of awesome beautiful sites. It does have a steep learning curve and a working knowledge of CSS is very helpful. Keep in mind I'm a designer though so if you can't imagine a site from scratch I'd stick to predone themes.

That said, if you have a design eye and know CSS, you can whip up beautiful landing pages, checkout processes, full static sites, you name it.

I'm currently using iThemes Builder, but I'd say StudioPress and Elegant Themes are good vendors too. I did use StudioPress Genesis for couple of years, and it's definitely a solid platform to build on.

There are some purpose-made themes that can't display articles, but the opposite is not a distinctive feature.

It depends on MANY factors. A few you want to take into consideration:

    1. Do you plan to have a regularly updated blog on the website?
    2. What type of look are you going for - active & busy, or minimalistic?
    3. How many navigational menus do you need?
    4. What product/service are you marketing?
    5. What kinds of themes do successful websites in your niche use?

If you have the money, I would recommend getting the Genesis framework - there are an array of child themes you can use, and Genesis is what Matt Cutts (head of Google webspam) uses.

NON-aff: Premium WordPress Themes by StudioPress

If you're tight on a budget, go ElegantThemes - $39 for access to 86 themes, so not too bad.

    And it's free.

There are good themes on ThemeForest, but I don't like the marketplace model. If you're building sites for businesses you need to take continuity and support in account. That's why you need to investigate each and every vendor you're considering to buy from. Even if the theme looks fine and vendor seems to know their stuff, it's still possible that the code behind the fancy layout is completely rotten.

But indeed - some of the best premium themes are on that site.

    lOl....

You need to know exactly what your content will be..
The design need to be as for your eyes.. and what you think is most pretty

After that, just make the decision if you want a basic wordpress theme....Or a Premium one

    Good Luck!
