SEO and CPA - I didn't believe until I did it!

Before, I believed CPA was only for people who have money to use in PPC advertising. Honestly, I was jealous to people who makes money because they know how to do this and do that because they have resources for advertising. When I got a referral who was earning $200/day in just one campaign, I was really wondering how he did it. There was no way to contact him of course so I studied hard. I knew he was using PPC.

That was the biggest challenge in my part. I brought him to this CPA program through my referral link and I said to my self I will not allow him to make money more than what I am making. In short, I had to work hard to surpass his earnings.....

I studied hard and focused on keyword research and got a very competitive keyword with 22,000 exact matches on google keyword tool. I got the .net domain. I created a blog, started posting with one campaign per post and around 200-word related articles per day. I did my best in SEO for 2 months and finally gave the site more than 7K of backlinks after 3 months. The site started earning $20, $40, $60 and upto $100 per day in the span of 4 months.

This beginning of the year brought me a personal breakthrough when my site placed on US Google 3rd and 5th on CA Google (I don't know why it is on 3rd page on Google UK). Though the traffic is not too high at around 600 organic per day, since December 28th (I believe this was the time my site appeared on google's 1st page), it is giving me a minimum of $230/day with a very high conversion rate due to targeted traffic from search engines.

I beat my referral without spending a dime on PPC. My investment - hard work, correct planning, and perseverance.

Now I am working on my second and third sites respectively following the same pattern on another niches.. Hope I can copy the same exact thing I did.....

To other warriors who are not making money yet, don't give-up.. work hard and ask questions here if you have any...... good luck to everyone of us...


Due to some serious financial trouble last year, I had to sell the site and it it now owned by other people. But that does not mean I gave up. I created another last May 2011 and the result is still the same. Both sites are earning steady income with solid traffic from search engines. A very low maintenance websites. I only post 1 to 2 article per site per week and build a maximum of 5 links per site per week as well.....

    Hard word and persistence really pays off.

    As you said CPA marketing with SEO really works.

    So, go on repeat the process to many niches as possible.

    I also want to tell you that some of the SEO tasks like link building are time consuming and tedious , so I recommend that you outsource some parts of your tasks so as to build as many sites as possible .

    I also wish you success for your second SEO site.

    • Well, everything about electronics. Laptops, iPhones, iPads, Xbox, playsyation, nintendo, camera, etc... All CPA networks have these offers in email and zip submit....

      Its a wordpress blog that uses a 1-column theme (to avoid distractions), and I think I have around 45 posts so far and still counting.. Just simple articles about the products being promoted (features, versions, etc)... I am using wordpress instead of just plain landing pages because of tags. Tags brings a lot of traffic through search engine.

  • SEO is the best method to get targeted traffic. These traffic will be a long time one. Nice to see a positive result from you. Now you can hit $1000/day.

If you meant SEO technique is life long time one your view is correct. And i hope you may know what is my view in your post

    • LOL, I feel sorry for you man for I experienced the same thing before.. Just do the backlinking thing slowly....do not rush. SEO is a long term thing so no need to rush.. try again.

    One thing I want to mention about SEO is that to not put the cart in front of the horse ... meaning dont optimize for a keyword and invest MONTHS unless you know that keyword converts. That way, PPC makes a quick and easy test phase more efficient.

    Always test the keyword first before doing SEO. Its only logical!

      reason: it sound logical, but, if we look at it this way: if a certain keywords exist in a search engine, it means that there are certain people looking for that piece of information. and if we give them what they want, we can gain something back

      so how to know which keyword convert? Well, that is not easy to determine that fact. The easier way is that just choosing a keyword that has volume and continue to do SEO on it. The OP did that and he success. Keyword research is definitely important, but it's pretty pointless to try to know if that certain keyword convert or not, since, generally, most keywords will convert the same way if we put enough amount of work in it

    • I have a lot of activities in article directories but I think majority of these backlinks cam,e from blogs who syndicated my content. You know when you put an article on articlesbase and someone copy it through autoblog, you are getting backlinks....the second one is forum signature,, I have a lot of signatures in different forums.

  • That is what I like about free traffic. Find a good strategy that works and its all pure profit.

    SEO is a tough game, I don't want to ignore that fact, but the rewards can be great. Think about it...you are getting 600 uniques per day, imagine if your site was getting 5,000 uniques or you have a network of sites that together add up to 5,000 uniques. Numbers can get pretty big.

    • For example, my blog is all about gift cards. We all know this is a hot CPA niche and of course there are dozens of types of gift cards. I will post about Vicoria's Secret for instance and right below my post title, I will put a very large banner of victoria secret gift card, then under it I have a supporting 200-words keyword-optimized article.

      I am using this free wp theme:

      You know what happens when there is no other thing to see than your banner. People will definitely click the ad

      I just put n article or 2 a day.. not a very hard work. Can write short article in 10 to 20 minutes.

    how did you research that or those keywords?

    I admire your work and just a note on the theme you very cleverly used a squeeze click to theme very similar to a optin page. I wish you much more success work even harder this year

    I just use google adword tool and look for some related keywords with high search volume. I do not test whether it would convert or not as long as the search volume is high...

      I will let kenster explain the call to action as I respect his explinations and work, but I will say this I would leave your banners at the top coz you know they convert and put the call to action at the bottom for those that miss the banner will most likley read through the while short article to be met by a call to action as the end. Talk about double whammy im sure your conversions will increase with this.
  • Awesome Adie! I was like you in that I had more time then money to outsource so I started the best I could promoting my own site (I sell real physical products) It took me 4 months just to make one sale from organic (I dabbled in PPC but it wasn't getting me RIO) so I kept pumping in links. Now
    a year later, I consistantely make $100-150 a day on free traffic (but I have hard costs in the product). I vowed 2011 I would quadruple last year!!

    • LOL, I am already doing this but didn't know that it is called "call of action". Yes, I put banner on top then put "click here" below. Sorry, my post above was not completed due to connection problem. The first thing I do is to check what offers have high conversion inside my CPA network account. Pick a group of products (gift cards, wight loss, free electronics, etc)...then do a keyword research. Example is "gift cards". I select this group of products because there are so many types of gift cards so I can post unlimited number of articles on my blog. For example, today I post about walmart, tomorrow I post overstock, the next day I post victoria secret, avon, Tjmaxx, so on and so forth. See, they are all offering gift cards so the related keywords are not hard to research. I just use google wonder well to wrap up everything. It means that in one blog, I am promoting lots of interconnected products. I post is equivalent to one landing page. That's how things are working with me.....

      Bigger part of 7K backlinks came from wordpress themes and blogs...

      Here a short detail.

      I post 2 to 3 articles per week in articlesbase, goarticles, and articledashboard. People are syndicating my articles through autoblogs and when my original articles republished in their autoblogs (with my links inside the articles), I am getting considerable amount of backlinks.

      Another thing is wordpress theme. I picked around 20 free wp themes, edited some part of it and offer it to my main blog available to download. The title of my blog post "Free WP themes for adsense". I edited the themes, created demos with some good adsense placements so the user will just change the images with his adsense codes. I put my link in footer of all 20 themes. When someone uses the theme, I got backlink . But of course I leave the original link of the original coder. I just added mine.....

      The 7K backlinks from yahoo site explorer actually is not accurate... I have more than 100K backlinks coming from different blogs.

      Nope.. I'm using google keyword tool only. It's a .net domain. If you have a lot of patience you can find some good domains. Yesterday I got a .com keyword domain with more than 15K exact result in in seo niche.

  • Congrats bro. Happy for you. I tried SEO but no luck. I can not seem to do it right and get free traffic. I totally hated how to get traffic method. 1 day i sat down thinking what can i do to get targeted traffic. PAid method....no..no.. best thing clicked on my head was Ebay. Traffic is there and all targeted. I started 2 months ago now making around 1k month. Once again congrats bro..keep up the good work..

      There are backlinks to homepage and there are also for internal pages. I write articles promoting each post whenever I have time so backlinks to internal pages are also increasing.

    I also made some good money with SEO before going to CPA/PPC, so I know that it does work. I've never made $250 out of only 600 visitors with free traffic, but if you can do it, then just try to hit the 2,5K visits a day and you will be doing great! (You already are, but 4 figures a day is even better :p)

  • And why are you ranting? Did I say it is the website I sold at Flippa? I didn't say anything about the domain of the website I am talking about here. I have 5 websites about laptops, ipads, iphones, macbooks - all ranking very high on Google. I have lots of websites earning from $10 to hundreds per day. And besides, I am not making any BS here.... and most of all, I am not selling anything... If you are not making money with what you are doing, with attitude like that, you won't make money at all... It's not fake and the buyer is happy... you have no right to say like that. If you don't believe no one is forcing you.
  • Google keyword tool shows 22,000 exact for the keyword free laptops. As you have stated, that site is laptopforfree.net. This is the site that was sold on flippa for $3500..

    So unless you have another .net that ranks for a keyword with 22,000 and has 7k backlinks, my opinion stands.

    Clearly the site you started your OP about makes $500 a month max, $350 on average. This doesn't take much effort to find out using google.

    I spent about 5min google researching your laptopforfree.net site, and it 100% matches the site you described in your OP..

    Sounds fishy to me.

    You may have other sites, and I hope you do. But your OP was about a .net site that went from making you $0 to $200+ a day.. from a single site. Why spread false info to people on forums? Are you trying to hype yourself to sell WSO?

      Send request to admin to ban me or make a written agreement and I will sign... that I will not make any WSO related to this thread within 5 years. I hate commitments and customer service so why I would create a WSO? And besides, this is a very simple strategy that don't need any special information other than perseverance and hard work - now WSO worthy.

      Laptopforfree is just one of the websites I am running and yes, it's another evidence that I can bring websites on top of google with such high competition. But again, that is not the website I sold in flippa. I have 4 more laptop-related websites and they are even competing each other. Why I should reveal my domain? I have no intention and WSO is not my passion... make a written agreement and I will sign...if that's what can make you happy.

    • I always tell people, figure out shortcuts AFTER you bum your way to success. Everybody I know who is successful worked in the trendches, building campaigns manually and figuring everythign out from bottom up. As you get better, then look for great software and other shortcuts to expedite certain processes.

      Too many newbies look for shortcuts before they even know the system they are trying to shortcut and this just leads to wasteful spending and inaction.

      Like you said, its about busting your butt!

    Even if it were fake, the methods and tactics revealed here are actionable and I think many warriors should take this tactic into consideration. It's actually the first time I see something like this, and its definitely worth it's weight in gold.

    I'm about to begin a website promoting some trial offers but I'm just wondering how did u get your website so high in google with such a competitive niche? Your laptopforfree.net is ranking 5th for the broad keyword of "free laptop" which has 123,000,000 results without quotes! That's seriously amazing. I would think it would take a ton of work to get it up that high. I'm thinking of ranking for a keyword that has 500,000 competing pages and people are telling me that it will be really hard to rank for it. DO u think I should go ahead any try? I have a couple of softwares like Senuke and Scrapebox but I'm still deciding if I should take the plunge. Your help is always appreciated.

    • Wow, senuke and scrapebox are tools I am dreaming of. Although I can afford to buy these software today, I don't know why I still didn't... Anyway, lapopforfree.net was an experimental blog and its actually not the same site I am talking about here but I do the same SEO process - in all of my sites. (I just sold laptopforfree anyway)...

      I don't know how it happened but I just build links like crazy without looking at the ranking for a month or two. I do not use any software except for roboform that helped me in filling forms. I think the only expenses I paid is the 30 PR2 blog backlinks I ordered through microworkers.com for $16 but it did not make such difference that much......

      Even myself was wondering how I beat those tons of competitors in a free way.. There's no shortcut really - just tons of hardwork...

  • CPA offers are actually the first thing that made me money within 2 weeks. No PPC used, just organic search traffic and it feels good to have 50$/day from cpa.

  • Adie I would just like to help clear up that even with a combination of all your sites to be earning $230 per day with alot of hard work I need to add, is a great thing, but even better is the fact that you are following a process with each site that actually works and the most impressive point is that it can be repeated and replicated. There is no limit to your income with a model like this

  • reading your story inpired me to work more harder with seo cuz i have spend around two months as well to work with it and one of my site rank number 3 in US google with around 200k quote competition but due to i am zero knowledge on keyword research, i got zero traffic from that keyword.

    As mentioned above, be smart to use PPC to select good search KW first before start SEO

  • SEO is a form of traffic i decided to get into for 2011. The idea of a site earning money without paying hundreds of dollars a day in advertising sounds amazing to me. My question to you is, you said you went from 20 to 40 to the money u are making now. is that from one site? or hundreds of niche sites. Also besides writing articles do u suggest anything else for backlinks

    • before, I used some single-product page landing pages. As I keep improving of what I am doing, I found out that creating a blog with lots of posts in related niches do well compared to a single-page landing page....

      An example of what I am talking about:
      www.laptopforfree.net

      It's a single page at first glance but take a look at the footer, you'll see that this site has a lot of pages all promoting CPA products... and it's SEOed well....

      Another one I newly created with still less content is found on my sig (free samples by mail) - this is a new site and I have longterm plan for this... There are hundreds of related keywords to promote and I am focusing much on SEO of this site (see how rapidly I am building links in just a couple of weeks).... This site is not doing any good yet but I am expecting to start profiting after 45 days when traffic from Google starts to grow....

      There's a lot of offers to promote...health and insurance are among the best.....

    I'm currently running an offer for a free iPad. I'm using video marketing and it's VERY slow at the moment. I'm currently averaging 4 clicks and 1 conversion a day. Yesterday was my highest day with 2 conversions at $1.40 each. Maybe I should create a website for these offers and begin building a website.

    I've heard from many people that the key to IM success is list building. How is it expensive to maintain a list?

    Also, are there any FREE guides on the WF about keyword research and finding the right keyword etc. I'm very new (I don't know anything about seo) but I want to get started building my own site.
    Question about backlinking: If I have the link to my blog in my signature on a forum, does it create a new backlink everytime I post?

    • Personally, CPA has nothing to do with listbuilding. List is good if you are always promoting products, or at least you have your own product. Eversince I started learning IM since 3003, I never focused on listbuilding. The main reason was, I can't afford to pay monthly subscription without knowing what to sell, and another thing is, I quit owning a credit card, which Aweber only accept... LOL

Like when I go to Peerfly and I want to promote the iPad e-mail submit offer. Then do you build a niche blog arround iPad with genereal informations about the item and then offering them a free iPad through your affiliate link? Or how do you do it?

    • Building a small niche specific to only one product for me is just a waste of time in SEO. I pick wide niche like insurance, health, electronics, etc... For electronics, you can promote everything including that free ipad.... It's like building authority site promoting several CPA offers.... Free laptop alone can also be considered a big niche since you got a lot of keywords there like free dell, free hp, free macbook, test and keep, etc....

    • I'm sorry but I don't have any plan of making any WSO... I don't want commitment with other people..... There are already dozens of CPA guides and basically, what I am doing is nothing different from what these guides are telling... It's just a matter of hard work that resulted to success... not any special guide.

      Your nationality or home country is not an issue anymore when applying with CPA companies. It's like adsense. If your site is not good them you might get rejected. Getting approved by CPA is easier than getting approved by Adsense because you have chance to talk with approving representative / AM..

      To all people who wanted to make money with CPA + SEO, give it 2 to 3 months to see the result.. This is not an overnight success....

  • Seo is a gold mine, however it does take tremendous learning curve to get it right.
    Seo has easily made me over 2 million dollars in revenue over the past 4 years.

    Here are my best recommendations for Seo

    1. have the exact domain = the keyword for example
    keyword.com
    keyword.net
    keyword.org
    don't register any others for Seo purposes.

    learn white hat back linking strategy (very time consuming to learn and do)
    there are very easy ways to do spam link backs but it will not be worth it.

    Once you learn back linking that is working, you can outsource this task and will free you up to look for better keywords to target.

    Use free tools to find your competitors links
    link: domain.com (use yahoo.com for this not google)

    then manually go through each linkback for your competitors, then just drop your link.

    • I can tell you I always set up the campaign so it's easy to replace an offer with another one. Many times the re-directed offer works as it's generally in the same niche, but you can almost always find a better offer. Especially when you are driving a lot of traffic, its important to find the best converting offer, not just use another one that works.

      The best tip for good keyword research is to find a keyword that is high in demand but low in competition. On Google Adwords you can go the the "Reporting Tab" and scroll down to the "Keyword Tool"

      Depending on what you niche is start with a very broad keyword and slowly begin to add more from the "Suggestions Box" Google will bring up on the right of where you input your keyword.

      Once you have your keywords entered, look at the columns that say "Global searches". The 22,000 mentioned in the beginning tread is where he got that number from. It means about 22,000 people searched with that keyword in the past month. Make sure your keyword has a heavy search volume.

      Assess your competition by looking at the "Competition" column. Stay away from keywords that are high in competition.

      Also if you're are looking for keywords for your PPC campaign then make sure to also factor in the "CPC" tab because that is likely what you'll also be paying.

      Final Tip: Never use one word keywords, way too broad so you could lose out on targeted traffic.

      What makes your success amazing is the fact that you did the opposite of what gurus prescribe:
      1. you didn't build a list
      2. you didn't go deep in your niche (instead, you went wide)
      3. you didn't drive traffic through PPC

      Though I know it's not your thing -- perhaps, it will be a great service to this community if you can actually do a "blow-by-blow" account of how you built your website. This way, all the newcomers (like me) can learn and not be frustrated with our efforts yielding nothing during the first 3 or so months.

      It is easy to say we should be patient (and most of us are) but it would be so much more motivating to see someone's true account of how he made his website No. 1 in a matter of months.

    Article marketing can be a drag but it definitely pays off. I also try to write one article a day myself but I mostly promote ClickBank offers in article. The action ratio is probably not as high as yours but the article are getting ranked in Google and viewed multiple time on article submission sites.

    More people to look into the power of article marketing.

  • the reason for testing a keyword to make sure it works is very simple and ill use an example.

    I created a game related website where i was trying to sell a ps2 game, back in the days where playstation 2's where the in thing. I did a big review on the game, loads of backlinking and created some in game videos for others to watch.

    300+ clicks later and no sales! the keyword was not a buying keyword and it was not an action keyword. Which means it did't convert into anything. 2 months hard work turned in nothing. Thank god i haven't got to worry about SEO or anything any more.

  • Its been 6 months since I created this thread and the second site I set-up for CPA is now earning a steady $5 to $8 a day though I have no time to promote. Not too big but a decent amount especially if you are doing almost nothing....

    • Scale scale scale. Use every extra second you have to put into this campaign man. Getting to $5 a day autopilot is the hardest part. It's much easier to bring a campaign from $5 to $100 per day then getting it to the $5

    I'm just wading into CPA and maybe PPC. I'm decent at SEO so this thread interests me to earn more on my main blog. The CPA banner offer is a good idea. Thanks. Can't believe I didn't discover doing this earlier.

    For anyone wondering about SEO, I've tried small and large sites. I can say, in my experience, having a larger sites with tons of posts makes it MUCH easier to rank new posts. I'm talking tons easier. I'm all about building up 1 site. If you're in a broad market / niche, many CPA opportunities should present. I'll be looking into a CPA network asap.

  • I used to think in similar way that to make it big one need to do ppc but seo works relly good for me. And one more thing when a ppc advertiser says he/she is making 200$ per day they are usually making 50$ per day as they have to pay to advertise so their net profit is usually lower than what they said.

  • INSPIRING! I have a few domains and may wish to employ a list of subdomains pertaining to a few niches. With Wordpress and SEO and CPA and linking up with other blogs mentioning my site in a quality, and I MEAN QUALITY post.

    I will need to get my butt in gear and try this out. NO! I REFUSE to do PPC! PPC is a No-go road for me, boy! I ought to make this my full time job- Wordpress, domains and CPA. Will try to stick to .coms, but Nets and Infos are OK. I could seek out a few infos this afternoon and try it.

  • Yes it works, i am #1 in Google for a "good" keyword also. (One of those where i ALSO didn't expect it as i did with "lose weight").

    BUT..the scaling is actually where i have the problem!

    I am hitting #1 with a keyword and make some amount from those every day....so i am doing the same thing with all kinds of other offers, using the SAME techniques to make sites/pages etc...but it just does not always work.

    Some keywords shoot up to #1 and totally surprise me because those are high competition keywords..and others i still have problems ranking. So it's always a trial/error thing.

    Also..MANY offers on those CPA programs just don't fit my existing sites..and overall there are only very few i can actually pick...i don't want to do weight loss (anymore) or gambling or dating and those are the majority of offers...

    • I don't think so. The only thing I observed is that, the more you are concerned with these Google changes, the more you are affected. My rankings are getting inconsistent but the changes are not so big and is out of concern....

  • As everyone noticed, I'd been silent for sometime about on thread because honestly, one of my sites was fatally hit by Panguin and earnings reached to its lowest. But after making some adjustments in the last couple of months on content, It is regaining it's google position. I am using 3 CPA networks. In one network where this site is associated, my daily $30 to $50 daily earnings from this site alone was cut to almost zero in the last 3 to 4 months. This week, it is starting to move again and I'm seeing $28 yesterday and $22 early today,m and my site is still on 2nd page. Once the site reaches the first page, especially on top 5, I am expecting an average of $100 to $120 from this site alone daily..

    SEO and CPA - I didn't believe until I did it!

    Before, I believed CPA was only for people who have money to use in PPC advertising. Honestly, I was jealous to people who makes money because they know how to do this and do that because they have resources for advertising. When I got a referral who was earning $200/day in just one campaign, I was really wondering how he did it. There was no way to contact him of course so I studied hard. I knew he was using PPC. That was the biggest challenge in my part. I brought him to this CPA program through my referral link and I said to my self I will not allow him to make money more than what I am making. In short, I had to work hard to surpass his earnings.....
