Default Newbie in CPA, where do i start?

Hi Everyone

I'm a newbie in internet marketing, interested in learning about CPA but have not sure where to start, would love advice from anyone who is making money in CPA. Should i buy an ebook from one of the experts or should i just stick to free online information. If you believe an ebook is the best method of learning which one do you thinks is best value for money.

Max.

You've got a really long way to go. In order to be a successful CPA marketer, you must at least have a 2-3 years IM experience.

Welcome, you are in the right place to start learning. Your question is a very general one, thus you won't really find any specifics you may be looking for. Additionally you may get some answers based on the thought that you may just be fishing, etc. In any case I'll try to lay out some general guidelines that can at least get you, and anyone else looking for guidance, started.

First off, CPA is a great way to get into this business. It provides a faster route to revenue, in my opinion and experience, than promoting products, etc. From a newbie standpoint, you typically aren't asking surfers to pull out their credit card, which means they are typically more likely to complete the requirements of an offer so you can get paid for it. That being said, payouts are not the same as if you were promoting clickbank products, etc. You can expect anywhere from ~$1 to ~$15 on average depending on what you are promoting. Obviously there are offers that are much higher, and some that are lower, but that is the range the bulk of them are in.

Now, you have started out on the right foot by coming here. My first piece of real advice would be to go through the forums here. Read through the CPA board to get an idea of what others are doing and asking. There are thousands of people in your shoes right now, literally starting out, trying to learn how to make money online. Reading through forums like this will get you a better understanding of what CPA is, how online marketing works and changes constantly, and how you can plan for an online business.

I emphasize the word business because unless you treat this as a legitimate business and expect a lot of hard work, you will not be successful. I don't care if you want to make $100K/month or if you simply want to bring in an extra few hundred bucks to help with bills or to build a slush fund. You wont't find any consistent, long-term success without the proper mindset.

Rather than reinvent the wheel here, I'll point you to some of the best threads on the Warrior Forum period. It just so happens that these are CPA-related threads:

How To Be A CPA Millionaire Part I
How To Be A CPA Millionaire Part II
How To Make $10K Per Month: Step by Step Guide
12 month Journey From Losing Money to my first $100k + Month - What I Changed And Why It Worked.

The first three are more practical guides and the last one is more inspirational, but all have great information. Read these completely, then read them again. These are the posts that inspired me and gave me the tools to take action and eventually start making money. You'll see a couple of common themes. First, there is no magic bullet, no method or hot medium that you can jump into head first and simply make it rich. Second, taking action is absolutely key. Don't read without applying. Lastly, it all takes lots of hard work. It's not impossible, but it isn't easy. If you can accept those realities, you are well on your way.

With regards to WSO's/e-books, I would say go through the information here for free first. Find posts by Kenster, Williamrs, Mike Morgan, etc. These are guys that have been doing this, makin money, and in a lot of ways, leading this board with advice. After that you can look at things like that. Kenster's Rags 2 Riches WSO was far and away the best WSO I ever bought. Even if you don't follow any of the methods, it has a lot of great foundational information on CPA and marketing in general. You can buy it here on the forums (simply do a search for Rags 2 Riches, or find a post by Kenster, it's in his sig). Also, you get it if you join UltimateIM as well. It's a membership site/forum that is run by Kenster (and Will from PPC-Coach). You can read about it on here, or click the link in my sig to learn more as well.

Personally, I would absorb as much free info as possible before paying, but paying for something that will allow you to make money isn't a bad idea either, just try and learn as much for free first.

Go through the boards, read all the stuff above, then you'll start getting a better idea of what this is about and what it takes. There are a lot of helpful people here, so don't be afraid to post questions, etc. You can always PM me as well and I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Good Luck! Now go read and work!

Not true at all. There are many people that are successful in CPA. Even people that just started last month! I'm not talking 500k a year successful. But successful enough to maintain.

To the OP: DO NOT purchase any E-books on CPA. I can't stress this enough. This is the reason that I am broke now. It turned out that all of those ebooks that I spent money on, hoping for that special formula for making $500/day doesn't work too well. Adter purchasing all of the ebooks, It turns out that everything I know about CPA right now, I got from posting questions in this section and reading informational posts about CPA. It seems that FREE information on the Warrior Forum is almost always better than a paid ebook claiming to make you millions.

The main thing I learned is that once you figure out a business plan, go with it. Don't sit here reading every single thread. The only way you will make money is by taking action and actually doing it instead of just reading about it.

Here is how I started out and made my first $10 from CPA. I joined MaxBounty Affiliate Network. I then found a simple Email submit (one field) offer for a Free iPad. Made youtube videos about iPads and how to get a free iPad etc. I then posted my affiliate link for the offer in the description in all of those videos, I only had 3 videos and made a quick $10 bucks. Imagine what I could've done with 50 or 100 videos. Good Luck!

You can start with free methods like article marketing, SEO, youtube etc. once you have some cash you can invest it in paid methods like ppv, ppc, media buys etc.

I started submitting articles to articlesbase. I would head over to Google trends find a hot topic and find a related CPA offer. I wrote a bunch of articles about the topic and done a load of backlinking to the article. Worked like a charm. One of my most successful campaigns was when the new droid phone hit the market. I was quick to jump on it. Some of those articles are over a year old and are still making money. Good way to start because it is almost free. You do need a domain name for your redirects.

You don't need a domain actually if you use Articlesbase. You can just use a url shortner to re-direct.

Do you do your backlinking by blog commenting? I was wondering, is posting an article link in a forum signature effective for backlinking.

The biggest thing I would say is find one thing and stick to it. It you are going to try articles give it a month of writing and see how you get on.

It is easy to get sidetracked and try other things. Stick to the one thing.

Sad to hear the first 2 responses falls into failure but here it is.

If you already know how to run a blog, then that would be a plus factor. It will only take 2 to 3 months to learn everything if you put time into it. This is for long-term (SEO + CPA) and not for short term PPC. means you are not going to shell out any money unless you want to.

Here's the things that you are going to do (before applying in any CPA program).

1. Decide what products you want to promote. If you are a big fan of iphone, ipads, macbook, laptops, etc, then select this niche. Otherwise, navigate any other possible niches like health, hairloss, stop smoking, etc. We are not talking about keyword research here yet, just pick your niche. A niche where you think you are comfortable dealing with.

2. Keyword Research - I would really advise you to take time subscribing in Steven's http://Supersimpleblogging.com. It's free and will tell you how to do (keyword research, wp installation, seo, etc). This method is designed for flippers and niche bloggers but it can also work with CPA for I've been following this guide in most of my CPA activities and got success.

3. SEO and Promotion - this is the most important part of your SEO journey. Stick only with the basics and don't make things complicated. Do forum signatures, article submissions, blog comments, web 2.0. I do not suggest social bookmarking.

4. Maintaining the heat - once your site is indexed, you can apply to some CPA companies (unless you already have an active account). divide your time in writing and in promotion. Once site is indexed, focus more on writing content and internet links / on page seo. The more content you have, the more your site will be visible to search engines because of increasing keywords..

And most important, once you get started, don't give-up. Don't get distracted by so called new techniques, new strategies, etc etc. This is the main reason why 90% fails.... Continue whatever it takes as long as you are in the right track........ Result can be seen after around 2 months... If you have funds, you can outsource writing and article submission at odesk.com

Good luck.....

PS: there is no other way on how to learn this other than following the above process. Even if you buy a so-called "CPA magic" ebook, the process would still be the same..........don't waste your money. it's pretty difficult at first but once you do it, it will be easy... I am giving you 2 to 3 months to learn and earn after the.... Heck, students are even struggling 4 years in college and wandering after what type to job they can get when they are graduated.. yours is only 3 months with guaranteed earnings....

It has been a major heck when new bees try CPA money making program. As a starter, you may be facing difficulty in driving traffic to your CPA offers online. This requires a little money and time set for initial advertising and this advertisement cost can be considered as the investment once your conversion increases.

I don't agree. I never spend any dime on my CPA authority site. I don't understand why people keep on saying "investment". The only investment here is time and perseverance. It is not advisable for newbies to shell out cash for they may end up broke. Spend only when you you what you are spending too... Building backlinks does not require money (not unless you want to spend - but not necessary)

Sound advice. Plenty of free traffic. Start with free traffic and when more experience is gathered, invest in some paid traffic if you want to increase your earnings.

It seems that we are having the old discussion about free traffic x paid traffic.

I've used both free and paid traffic and, honestly, this discussion doesn't make sense. As I always say, there isn't a definitive answer, it depends on the person and their current situation.

If a person has a good start up cash and little time, I can't see why not to start with paid traffic. Because they'd lose money. Yes, obviously, but what's the problem? Or should the person spend more time to save money even if they have a good budget and little time?

The same for someone with free time and no money, why would this guy join the PPC or PPV war? SEO and article marketing seem to be much better strategies in this case.

@OP - Mate, if you have a good start up cash, don't be afraid of giving paid traffic a shot. I make all my money from paid advertising now and it does work. However, if you don't have a good initial budget, don't be lazy, take the free route and with enough persistence and patience the magic will happen for you.

Start by asking your AM which are the top offers on the network. Get a list of 10.

Test them out. Write articles. Drive traffic to them.

Everything is a test. If the test succeeds, start to outsource and get even more traffic.

It would help if you can specify your budget. I'm willing to help newcomers out.

I agree that CPA takes a lot of hard work, but CPA and any other IM field for that matter doesn't require years of experience. For some, absolutely it does, and for others, they never make a dime online their whole lives for one reason or other.

But THERE ARE plenty of people making lots of money very fast. Call it hard work, call it luck, call it whatever you want, it happens and happens all the time. I know it didn't take me years to start making great money online. In truth, I made money quite quickly but reinvested it all into my business for months.

Again, it takes hard work but IM is not rocket science by any means. There are plenty of people making lots of money right away, some quiet about it and others more vocal.

As for the average amount of time to make $X per day...that will always be a mystery!

Me personally, I love products. I think people take the wrong approach to products and that's why people don't like them. The people who believe a product will miraculously deposit some 5 figure checks in their accounts daily will never be satisfied with a product and probably never make money.

Products are about saving time, learning methods and strategies in an efficient and effective manner. Is a $30 ebook that saves you 2 days worth of time finding out the answer to some of your questions worth $30? To me, absolutely.

Products are an investment. Sure, some are great and some are garbage but I would be willing to bet that nearly every marketer out there who is successful has purchased products that helped them and purchased products that were a waste. I can honestly say I dont know one single successful marketer that has never purchased a product.

Maybe expectations are too high, maybe sales letters get out of line sometimes, but the truth is that products have their place and help a lot of marketers. I still buy products and am often dissapointed, but its an investment. I am even more dissapointed with my stock picks in 2009

I am not arguing that everybody should go out and buy tons of products, because products aren't what make you money. Information makes you money. Whether you want to pay for information to have it organized and save you time, that's up to you.

Yep, experience and action TRULY IS the best learning experience. Of course you can and should supplement the experience with information and learning.

you need to put your CPA offers in front of buyers, thats it. try something link printing 100 flyers for a free ipad offer, and handing them out to kids aged 13-18 at a shopping center, and see if it converts, it won't cost you over $10 to try this.

Whenever you test paid traffic, never spend more than $20 to see if it is worthwhile.

You're going to get a million different answers because there's a million different ways to do it. What you need to do when starting out is pick ONE and do it to completion. You will most likely struggle along the way, but get some help if you need it then.

Don't be drawn into the arguements about free traffic versus paid, they both work well. It's also advisable to layout a plan before you start. Set some goals and then figure out what you need to do daily to reach them.

You can literally come up with the most comprehensive and most helpful product ever by combining all the threads on this forum. It would be better than any $5,000 product out there and all the information is scattered throughout this forum...pretty cool when you think about it

it seems the last things i wrote in the other thread applys here as well, we explored about every possible tactic out there for building the sites, to marketing to monetizing, many worked, many didnt. if you would like an overview of all of it, my url is in the profile, mention to the chat specialist "warrior forum" and they will put you in touch with me, or pm me.

Good Luck!

I have also tried the same even same offer from same network but still didn't get any conversion. actually the problem is that I am not getting views.
any suggestion ?

Try both, don't just stick to free info, or a bunch of ebooks. Most CPA networks introduce you to the industry via their sites now.

Definitely joining the forums here is a great way to start. You can/are going to find out so much about CPA (as well as all aspects of internet marketing).
Its been said before already, but DON'T buy any ebooks hoping to find an autopilot get rich quick CPA method. The information is here.
Also don't spend to much time researching before you start, you can easily become swamped down and not get around to doing anything. You need to take action, get out there and start.

Affiliate and CPA Networks listed and reviewed
Please feel free to review your network
