It is with great sadness I announce the passing of Hazel a few days ago...

the 97-year-old woman who lived on Elm Street.

At her funeral yesterday her husband said he had no doubt Hazel was thankful for the outpouring of love...because it was the first time in their 67 years of marriage he didn't hear her complain about anything.

Now, I also have some good news because I know this is sad for many of you. I understand because I've been there.

I'm announcing it is now possible to visit and chat with Hazel whenever you like.

Yes, she may be gone, but with the latest tech tech hoo haa she lives on as though she never left.

You can fire up your computer and have a one-on-one conversation with her anytime you want.

You can ask her questions and get her advice.

You can laugh and joke about the 'good ole days'.

You can also share recipes...

as a matter of fact, she's on call whenever you need or want to talk.

So, in case anyone is wondering...

yes, this is really a thing now.

All a person's everything is fed into an AI program and trained. Videos, pictures, phrases, everything. It will be possible to ask them anything and get an answer in their own voice. You can even watch them on the screen as they give you their feedback and discuss it with you.

It's something evolving...

what do you think?

Do you want to live on and be on call forever?

This introduces an entirely new level of creepy.

It occurs to me that those people interested in making themselves 'perpetually available' are probably those we would least want to talk to when they were alive. (as in 'what do you mean my mother-in-law will be with us forever???')

There is an animated movie called Wall-E (pixar - 2008 or so). In it, Earth has been so contaminated that all the people have moved to a different planet (or manmade ship, etc). The people have become so lazy they can no longer walk so they just lay around in beach chairs while robots do all the work.

The message in the film is that consumerism, lack of common sense, failure to plan and laziness led to people who could not care for themselves.

Wonder where A.I. would fit into that scenario.

It actually doesn't take much to be considered a 'difficult woman' -
that's why there are so many of us.

      That one had me laughing.

It does seem a little creepy.

When I was typing the post, I was sure it wouldn't be long before we see the same thing being sold to pet owners. An idea to keep your pet alive forever.

I remember about 10 years ago I was talking to a guy that was doing QR codes for gravestones.

He sold a metal piece with a QR code engraved in it. The metal piece was attached to the gravestone and anyone who was going through the cemetery could scan the code with their phone and read all about the person...videos, pictures, etc.

I thought it was a great idea. I never heard about it much after that though, so it might be one of those things I thought was a good idea but very few others did.

I do remember at the time reading it was popular I think in China.

But as far as the AI for those that have passed? I'm not sure about that one.

I did just read a couple of days ago, or somewhere around that time frame, about a country singer who had a stroke and couldn't use his voice anymore...

so he used AI and loaded all his past songs and yada yada yada...and just released a new song by using AI. He can't sing anymore but I guess AI did it for him?

His name is Randy Travis. I'm not really into country music too much but I have heard of him. I guess his song is out now.

So, even when a person is still alive they can continue their legacy.

The Final days are here, I might as well download myself into an AI database and become a surrogate.
