Tourist Marketing - anyone else have a similar market?

I live in a destination location and the majority of my clients will be advertising there goods or services to people who do not live here. I have found little online discussions of such a niche and I am trying to form a community of marketers/agencies that deal with similar clients. Our window of opportunity looks much different that a client that is advertising globally, or to a consistent local base.
Issues:
Capturing tourists in the dreaming and planning phase
Keeping their attention
Marketing to them without overwhelming or annoying them
Finishing the sale once they arrive
cold audiences - marketing to tourists that did not interact with your brand before they arrived.

Just looking for others in this niche that would be open to sharing experiences, tips and such. Thanks guys!

How is that different from what a travel agency does - or state or city travel bureau's do?

If you are in the Keys you have a lot of competition - how does your website compare to the competition? Where are competitors advertising?
