I have a page on Chest Exercises/Workout.
So what permalink should I choose -

(i) http://www.example.com/chest-exercises/
(ii) www. example.com/chest-workout/

Google Trends shows CHEST WORKOUT is a more popular term than CHEST EXERCISES.

But if you search 'CHEST WORKOUT' the websites with permalink of 'CHEST EXERCISES' are ranking on 1 st, 2nd, and 3rd position on SERP.

Or should I go with other options, like

(iii) http://www.example.com/chest-exercises-workout/
(iv) http://www.example.com/chest-exercises-chest-workout/
(v) http://www.example.com/chest-workout-exercises/

So, what do you think? What's the best thing I can do?
What permalink should I use?

You should look into silos for SEO.

Then you should figure out which keyword is easier to rank for, and go for that one.

Unless you do not want organic traffic.

That's because the URL has nothing to do with the ranking of a keyword phrase. It used to, but that was many, many years ago. Also, they are two search terms that mean the same thing so chances are, a page completely optimized around "chest workout" is also going to rank as well for "chest exercises". Google's algorithm is a lot smarter today.

In other words, make the URL whatever you want. It's not going to affect your rankings one way or the other.

What did you do to get your posts ranked? How many backlinks have you gotten? How's your on-page SEO?

You do not get ranked just by publishing.

Not so sure I agree with this one. The way that I understand the changes that were made is that a URL with the Keyword in the main part ( keyword_layden .com ) would now be equal to brand .com/keyword_layden. Keyword in the URL still is a variable, it just doesnt matter if its in the Primary or secondary aspect of the URL

My understanding is it doesn't really matter where it is, as long as it's in the url.

Basically it depends on your targeted keyword. Its recommended to use that keyword in permalink. Better be exact match rather than a long form.
