Where to start with dropshipping

First and foremost - don't advertise your budget - so many scammers out there.

Two things to do IMO:

Use the search function in white toolbar above (use 'advanced' search) and do a keyword search for

dropshipping

and click 'titles only'. Read through the results to get an idea of the concerns, questions/answers members have about dropshipping.

Take your time to go through free training provided online, such as from one of the established businesses such as Shopify....

The whole point of dropshipping is to avoid maintaining
inventory, therefore you don't need thousands of your
currency.

The basic concept is that you set up an online sales
operation, on a marketplace or your own website, where
you then advertise widgets. When you sell a widget, you
submit the order to your widget supplier, who then ships
the widget directly to your customer.

It's a very simple concept so if you don't know where to
begin you need to read a book or take a course about it.

And you may want to research other online businesses
because that is not the only thing.

More often than not, those people who want to start working online by doing 'drop shipping' or 'affiliate sales' chose those 'methods' because they require little financing.

Because you have financial resources for your new business, I would encourage you to look at a full range of online businesses to choose the BEST one for you. You don't have to go for the 'free methods only' - so your options are wide open.

I would start a blog and drive targeted traffic. You might also want to build q1 or 2 sales funnels and test them out to see what is and isn't converting

With £5k, you're off to a good start. Here's a quick roadmap:

- Choose a Niche: Pick something you're passionate about and research products with demand.
- Set Up Your Store: Use platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce for your online store.
- Learn the Basics: Get the hang of SEO and advertising basics over time.
- Start Small: Begin with a few products to test the waters.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service for trust-building.
- Scale Gradually: As you gain confidence, consider scaling with SEO and ads.

You can use Junglescout which is a tool Amazon sellers use to figure out which products are HOT

You can also go by Amazon's own best seller listings but you need to keep track over a long period of time since there's lots of fluctuations and many products BECOME COLD after a while

Once you get a good idea on a PRODUCT VERTICAL - not just one product but many products - you want to dropship, go to ALIEXPRESS and find a supplier

You can use a wide number of tools to automatically order from aliexpress to ship through your site
You also need a payment processor and order bundler - SHOPIFY does this

As for TRAFFIC, you can use influencer traffic (FREE if you get an interview) or other FREE METHODS - pinterest / FB groups / etc

You need to PUT IN A LOT OF TIME to do the above since they require lots of RESEARCH - if you don't have time, get a buddy or a partner to do it.

Regardless, get extra hands to help you since the PAYOFF is worth it

You should start by watching youtube videos. Hundreds tutorial how to start and run dropshipping business and the best part its free. Youtube is your friend.

Of course, learning SEO and creating ads can have benefits but I think it is better to focus on mastering one aspect at a time. I'd also recommend choosing a proper third-party api and integrating it to automate processes (I'd pay more attention to inventory management and order fulfillment).
And I agree that it is worth going for self-teaching. YouTube offers many great and helpful videos and tutorials.

Build an online store, use AliExpress and Shopify. Build a blog to promote the products in your online store. Write good content for your blog (or use AI software to write the content). Write good ads (or use AI software to write good ads).
